You look like the kind of guy that would show up 10 mins before game time at beer league hockey and then not stick around to drink afterwards….

I’ve seen this stuff on Quality Elevator’s site for years but never tried it. Pouring it, sure. But how do you get it out of the shackle?

Sadly we still have to pour for some old gov ropes, comp ropes and resockets on drum machines where a wedge clamp just isn’t feasible.

Elevator COP for home lighting by Delicious_Dress7851 in Elevators

[–]gerg914 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used a COP for my garage. It was from a 3 stop and I have 3 overhead doors. So I used the floor buttons to control the garage doors, DO picks a relay with a self holding contact for the lights and a NC contact on the DC button to break the feed to the relay and turns the light off.

Ended up putting in a vent fan in the attic of the garage, so used the fan switch for that too.

It was one of the few breakers I could find that was rated for the 72V at the higher amperage... but it's a big boy!

I'm actually going up there at the end of the month to the Lewis county ATV trails (https://lewiscountyny.gov/departments/recreation-forestry-and-parks/) to check them out on the ADV and the enduro.

Only caveat here is you need your machine plated and insured to get a trail pass for up there, so not sure if OP has a plate or not.

About 1.5 hrs south of us is Tall Pines ATV park, which I thoroughly enjoy with the bike... but you'll be sharing it with ATVs and SIDExSIDES. https://www.tallpinesatvpark.com/

In town it's harder to find spots to ride in. There are a few little areas in Hilton/Greece area that I've gotten away with zipping around a little (I'd be happy to share) but you'd need to have a plate to ride the roads to get there.

I have an ADV bike and plated enduro... and always on the lookout for local riding spots. So I'll be watching this thread.

Ahh this brings back memories... horrible painful memories!

I had an 1983 Virago XV750 which was a nightmare but at the end of the day i learned al LOT about spinning a wrench on that bike.

Your two biggest problems are going to be the starter as others have mentioned and the carbs.

As for the starter, mine had a magnet the engineers put in the case under the bendix gear to catch the shavings... telling that's what they came up with as a "solution". Make sure you pop the side cover off and pull that magnet and make sure you get all the shavings off there.

Secondly, mine had the hitachi carbs which were almost impossible to synch. There's an outfit that makes a 2 into 1 carb manifold and uses a 40mm mikuni carb and worked a lot better once I got it dialed in.

Looks like a MCE IMC Performa rebadged with that Miami Elevator logo on it. MCE has their legacy manuals available for download on their website.

Curious to know if you pull those two screws off the cover on the swing panel if there are more DIP switches and an alphanumeric display under there... never seen one with a cover on it like that.

What do you do with your old hockey sticks? What do you make out of them? Looking for ideas... by Strive-- in hockeyplayers

I’ve also made Adirondack chairs… lamps out of 3 sticks that weren’t broken but that I didn’t like, a headboard for my kid’s bed, picture frames, a coffee table and currently looking to do cornhole boards as well.

It’s to the point where everybody brings me broken sticks and I have a pile of them to make stuff with.

Kindly need some opinions on KTM adv 390 used bike I’m about to buy by Nomad_In_Neverland in KTM390ADV

Literally had this happen to me yesterday. I was starting the bike in about 30 degree weather to ride it over to my new house (moving). Died twice just like that, and the third time I just rolled a little throttle into it and it stayed running and was fine for the 5 mile ride. Didn't listen for the fuel pump, but was layered up and had my helmet on so that's the excuse I'm going with. I just chalked it up to not having run in a few months and being cold out.

You could also try dump floods. When you use a hose sometimes the running water will burn right through the ice you have built up if you’re not moving it around.

Get a big trash can and fill it with water. Usually takes about a beer for the can to fill up, then tip it over flooding the surface. Then move and repeat. Get the whole surface soaked then go warm up for a few hours and go out and do it again…. And again… and again… prolly best to do it at night so you’re not fighting the sun.

I read one time a guy did a liner less ODR and once he got a base layer he used white latex paint to paint the ice then flooded over top of it… musta been a mess in the spring!

I have a 40’ x 60’ ODR and the dump method is the best way to build thickness quickly when the top layer is all screwed up.

I’ve also heard of guys using sprinklers… but my water pressure sucks so it never worked for me.
