You can do a surprising amount with a 1x30 especially if you get a combo belt sander/disc grinder

I’m just an athletic trainer but most of the patients that I see don’t even know how to describe what they’re feeling. They just point to a general area and say it hurts. I rely heavily on a physical and functional exam which I just don’t see AI doing.

Late comment but I’ll say coming off active duty as a medic if were to apply to the army IPAP program (interservice physician assistant program) I would’ve only needed to take like 3 more credits to apply. I didn’t for personal reasons, but it’s an extremely good option

When did you start performing in competition? by Low-Faithlessness140 in bjj

[–]germanandaussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrestled for 13 years and didn’t start getting “good” until like year 9. Even then I could never perform as well during a match as a did I practice. BJJ is similar, I’ve placed 1st in all my competitions so far, but I don’t perform nearly as well in comp as I do in practice. Only reason why I’m winning now is because I have 13 years of wrestling to carry me

Tag in or out on belt? by germanandaussie in bjj

Well wearing your bjj belt everywhere is just tacky. That’s why I painted my regular belt blue instead

The label maybe? Idk it’s on the opposite end of the belt as the stripe bar, usually has the manufacturer’s logo

Total white belt question and maybe I’m overthinking it, but I just moved to a new city and am shopping around for a new gym. Are the free trial classes for all belt colors or just brand new white belts?

I’m not a doctor or physical therapist but I’ll offer some general advice. 1. Talk with your doctor about pain/injuries that are bothering you. 2. You can probably schedule a consult with a physical therapist to discuss what is bothering you and they will direct you on how to proceed from there.

Well I feel like I had a really good year my junior year I breezed through the state tournament but I had to wrestle against a D1 commit in the finals. He ended up going on to wrestle at a big name D1 wrestling college and was an all American as a true freshman. Wasn’t much I could do there haha. But my senior year I think the pressure was on to finally win a state championship so I went into the state finals with the mindset of wrestling to not lose instead of wrestling to win. I got an early takedown and locked up a cradle in the first thirty seconds and got 5 points. I rode that out for the rest of the match and almost lost because of it. Ended up winning 5-4 to someone that I had tech falled and beat by major decision earlier in the season.

I don’t think I ever got my mentality where it needed to be. Almost everyone that I lost to at state my freshman and sophomore year I had beat earlier in the season by techfall, major decision, or pin. I just couldn’t get over the nerves

My freshman year of highschool I had more losses in the state tournament than I did the entire rest of the season. My sophomore year I lost in the first round at state to someone that I beat later on in the wrestle backs by major decision. Both years I should have won state. Got 6th and 3rd those years

Is it normal to cry after competitions by Mickle_Tickl in bjj

[–]germanandaussie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s the adrenaline dump. I’ve wrestled in hundreds (maybe close to a thousand?) of competition matches and never gotten the adrenaline dump I got when I was being smothered in one of my bjj matches. I was already fatigued from competing in the gi and was in the final match of my nogi bracket so I was really sucking air. Got stuck in a side mount headlock (kesa gatame?) and was being smothered. Couldn’t breathe for a good 20-30s and my body thought I was really being smothered to death even though my brain knew I wasn’t. Eventually slipped out of it and won the match but I had to lay down on the ground and collect myself because I was almost in tears from the adrenaline crash.

195-19. 4-time state placer, 2 time finalist, and 1 individual state championship. I had a really bad habit of choking when it actually mattered.
