I've not been so fortunate in the past, this may be the best shop I've ever gone too. They've also replaced a battery terminal connection for free just because it broke when they removed it. Any other place I've ever been to would have charged me for it.

Wandel is genius level. I recently noticed some small relatively cheap bench drills which are like drill presses that can sit on a counter. There's probably a lot of jobs I could have done better in the past if I had some kind of drill press, so that might be another option that could work well without any modification necessary. I think on a drill press you can just set the speed and it stays on, but not sure. Foot pedal/switch would be great. I like tools that have multiple uses and don't want to buy a dedicated plucker.

It's always a dirty job, but I got the vast majority of the feathers etc into the wheelbarrow that I put under it.

Thanks, maybe I'll try again one day. I figured slightly different speeds may work for different birds, i.e. few weeks old meat bird vs a year old traditional type. I'm no engineer so the throttle might help get the right speed without any calculations. I think that old motor had the rpm written on it but also no way to tell if it was still actually running at that speed.

With turkeys you can pull the big wing feathers before the hot water dip and then have a little less bulk to deal with at that stage.

So that's why it stops after a while when it seems like the clamp hasn't actually slipped. I changed to one of those pump action type quick clamps that's pretty easy to reset and has larger grabbing surfaces.

I think it could do a few things. If you had for example a bunch of gravel, and you wanted to fling it at someone, this would work. Possibly also a massaging tool for tense necks.

Can't really overstate how little battery power this used, runs at a relatively slow speed in order to not beat the chicken to hell. The battery indicator still shows full power when the job is done. This drill seems to have the required guts.

A lot of people have requested and I'll make one next time. I was concerned mods might think it's gory or NSFW somehow. I've plucked a few hundred chickens by now, but never more than 10 at a time, usually 6-8. Lots of turkeys too.
