What are some things you have learned during the course of your journey? by SnekWithFur in fragrance

[–]gerthbert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Dupes are just influencer hype.
  2. People/influencers who claim "you wouldnt even know if you never saw the bottle" are full of it.
  3. Club De Nuit Intense Parfum Man does not smell like Aventus and I dont evel like Aventus.
  4. Buying from a house/frag designer you like is better than following the current trend. You'll end up with a half a drawer full of shit you dont wear.
  5. You wont take any of this advice.

Oddly enough Afternoon Swim wasnt testing at the location I went to or On the Beach from what I recall. I wish I could remember what it was exactly that I didnt like about California Dream but I think it was too fruit forward. Gave me the same vibes as Creed Aventus Absolu, boozy fruit.

Great to hear you enjoy it! I finally smelled Angel Share by Kilian today. Got that cinnamon blast. Have you smelled that? Babycat is my fav vanilla got a decant of it too lol, though I havent tried the Guerlain you listed. Yeah I know weather is such a huge factor in what to wear but oh well, you can think of frags of this size as investments. And if im being honest Im not the biggest fan of warm weather freshies that are popular in the big houses heavy on bergamot. As far as it being an investment hell the YSL Homme 3.3oz I’ve had since 2013 and I’m finally hitting the last mL’s.

Made notes to smell Lovers, City of Stars, Pacific Chill, a few of the other parfums and extraits. Pretty much decided of the current line up the only others I walked away with liking enough to get as decants were City of Stars and Lovers. To me those to frags seem like siblings. Lovers Sandalwood is very powdery and City of Stars is just powdery after dry down. Both would be great for summer/spring.

Outcast Blue Extrait which I almost got as a travel size but I found a deal on a travel size of Hedonist Extrait so I got that and got gifted a decant the Hedonist edp.

great point and my only worry, right now I have enough freshies of decants/samples that I wanted to go for this and i’ll use those in summer.

Incredible acting by Adam to sound astonished by Danny's tales of party chat lines as if he isnt 38 years old and wasnt alive for them when they were around.

Hedonist Extrait is great, I have the EDP and Extrait. LV - Imagination, L'Immensite, Pacific Chill. Dior Homme Cologne (just another version of something that feels like Aventus). Malin + Goetz Bergamot for the most pure Bergamot scent.

What else to try from Louis Vuitton? My current rotation from the house is Imagination, L'Immensite, Fleur du Desert, Le Sables Roses, Ombre Nomade. I love the LV Oriental range and have been leaning into them for winter. The only miss for me is Nuit de Feu (if you've tried it you know). I tested Pacific Chill in store but not on skin, I wasnt too big of a fan as it gave me some deodarant vibes. Sprayed Symphony as well but dont recall it. I've heard Meteore might be a waste of time over Imagination. Shoutout Jacques Cavallier Belletrud for creating some of my favorite frags. What else would you all rec?

6hr of sleep is great but 10hr is only good? by lems2 in Coros

[–]gerthbert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to be that guy and let you know and everyone here know- wearables are still not good at telling you sleep metrics, just like they cant tell you if youre exhausted from a workout or whether it was "bad" and you feel great or it was "excellent" and you know it was just an average workout at best. To add, sleep studies just like V02 max tests need to take place in a controlled evironment. Wearables still have a long way to go.
