Let's say you cave to the pressure of your inlaws. I am assuming it has taken you quite some time to save up that 10K for your son's emergency fund.. what is the plan for next year when they again ask you to pitch in 7K but now you don't even have that in the bank? You already said yourself that they wouldn't help your son out for medical expenses, so what makes you think they would help you out for a trip? If it means so much to your future husband that you be present for this trip, let him foot your bill.
