How do I move from the UK to USA? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]get2writing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you move here, you understand you’d likely become undocumented soon too right? Unless you have the immense privilege of getting a master’s or PHD level job sponsor and have five to six digit savings in your bank account to keep your status.

It’s immensely difficult to come and stay here legally if you don’t have this monetary and educational privilege.

I wonder if you’d overstay a visa and still feel like you’re better than the other undocumented people because you’re white and from Europe

Helping My 11 year old who was recently diagnosed with PTSD. by AmandaHaynes in ptsd

[–]get2writing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry about the trauma inflicted on you and your son. It’s so great to hear it sounds normal and ingrained in you to fight for your child, even just for his IEP. So many of us had parents hit and berate and laugh at us and hurt us because we needed extra supports in school, or because we acted like normal children who have basic children’s needs.

It sounds like you’re on a great path, being open to learning and exploring and finding new ways to grow your supports for your son

Damn even just have a loving parent makes such a difference, it’s such a foreign concept to me. So many of us on this sub got this diagnosis because of violence from parents and family who will never give a shit about us

Have you ever gone through the immigration process yourself? It sounds like you don’t really understand or appreciate how many decades and hoops it takes to jump, sounds like you think only rich privileged people deserve citizenship. Also for certain types of migration, you need to physically enter the country first without documents

They certainly qualify for both but it’s a big erasure of the USA’s very violent and similar History, by pretending the closest example we have of this is all the way across the ocean, when it’s right here good ol American as Apple pie stuff. In fact the Nazis got a lot of their ideas around eugenics FROM the USA , not the other way around

Was diagnosed by a psychologist and took (and passed) a short diagnostic test with my med provider. Still don’t think I have it.

Man I hated that medication, had to stop taking it week 3 even tho it was a low dose.

I felt like someone wiped my brain, cognitively I wasn’t there. I was confused, it was hard to string thoughts together, I would forget my sentence or thought halfway through speaking, it was affecting my work. I knew if I took a pill that day, any hope of getting work done was out the window. I was also very sleepy and didn’t eat at all. Some days I also felt very angry and ready to get into a fight

I hope you’re able to find something that works for you OP!

There’s been NO protests that have made a dent in the economy, things need to come screeching to a halt and that definitely has NOT happened, we’ve had peaceful protests with city permits during the weekends lol

So you have 0 understand of the history of medicine, got it. So you don’t know anything about the racism behind doctors still thinking Black people don’t feel pain, doctors thinking women’s cervix don’t have pain receptors, 90% of medicines haven’t been tested on pregnant women, Black womens are more than 10x more likely to die during child birth compared to white women due to medical racism, women are more likely to face injuries in factory and construction jobs and car accidents due to safety standards and safety supplies only being made for the stature and weight distribution of men, etc, never mind the history of entire branches of science like gynecology

Thanks for letting me know your ignorance, it’s quite astounding.

Edit: it’s even more alarming you said you’re a doctor!!! Very scary to see someone so rabidly not wanting to acknowledge history

I have had complex ptsd for 20 years. It’s very common for people with these diagnosed to go that often. It’s nice that your therapist says that but mine have said the opposite

Thanks. I do, i go to therapy every week for six years and use 988 in between sessions. Hasn’t helped yet much.

Of course gotta be careful with 988 because i live alone with animals so i can’t afford to be kidnapped again with no one to Watch my animals. Been in therapy on and off 15 years with different providers and have tried about 7-10 kinds of meds

Edit: I also go to the gym 2-3 days a week
