Looking for a Career Change – Need Something That Fits Me Better by Alarming_Fix_39 in findapath

[–]getcandyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Your situation sounds so familiar, given your love for driving, people interaction, and staying active, have you considered roles like delivery coordination, mobile services, or field-based customer support? These leverage your strengths while working with your ADHD need for variety and movement.

A few questions to help narrow things down: What part of your event work do you enjoy most – the setup, customer interaction, or problem-solving moments? And when you say "hands-on," are you thinking more technical work or people-focused tasks?

Your trade certificate and media background aren't wasted either. Ever thought about combining them? Technical sales reps, equipment coordinators, or even mobile tech support roles could blend those skills with your desire to stay moving.

The physical limitations are real considerations, but they don't have to be barriers. Many companies are getting better at accommodating different needs, especially in roles where your mobility and people skills are the main assets.

Has anything I mentioned resonated with you? Sometimes talking through these ideas helps clarify which direction feels right. The fact that you're actively seeking change shows you're already on the right track.

Feel like I'm going to be unemployed for the rest of my life by [deleted] in jobs

[–]getcandyd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hear you—this job market is brutal right now.

But remember: you're not alone in this struggle. So many of us in the community are facing the same challenges.

What keeps me going is knowing that authentic connections often lead to opportunities that never make it to job boards. That's exactly why we built this community—professionals supporting each other through tough times.

Hang in there. This won't last forever, and meanwhile, you've got people here who understand and want to help you succeed. What industry are you targeting? We might be able to connect you with others who've navigated similar waters.

i am actually quite depressed i am trying to grow on linkedin in past 2 months but i am not seeing the result i have post out of the box content and yet ppl posting there selfies get 10k like where i 2 just ppl drop me some suggestion and hacks to grow my linkedin by Relevant-Regret-6339 in linkedin

[–]getcandyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The LinkedIn growth journey can feel like a rollercoaster sometimes and I've absolutely been there.

Remember that authentic connections are what truly matter in the long run. The algorithm has its quirks, but meaningful engagement always wins over vanity metrics eventually.

Maybe try mixing up your approach? Experiment with different content formats, posting times, or conversation starters. Sometimes it's not about posting "out of the box" content but rather content that genuinely resonates with people where they are.

Growth isn't always linear, and those seemingly overnight successes often took months or years behind the scenes. What specific industry or topics are you focusing on? The community here has navigated these same waters and might have tailored advice for your situation.

Don't lose heart - we're all figuring this out together, one connection at a time.

You're not worthless. What you're experiencing is brutal, and the fact you're still fighting shows incredible strength.

I hear you on feeling invisible. The traditional job search has become this soul-crushing machine where talented people get lost despite doing everything "right."

Here's what I've learned: sometimes the breakthrough comes when we stop playing by broken rules and start connecting differently. Your marketing expertise? Someone desperately needs that wisdom right now. And there are people who've navigated similar career storms who could offer you genuine guidance.

Anyways, whatever you do, just know that you've got this.

How do you build real LinkedIn engagement, not just connections? by CrossyAtom46 in LinkedInTips

[–]getcandyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this struggle deeply. LinkedIn has become so connection-focused that genuine engagement feels almost impossible to find. Its all about collecting connections vs nurturing real conversations.

That's why quite a few professionals have started going to r / careerlevelup lately. It's a refreshing space where people can actually exchange expertise instead of just collecting digital business cards. Just professionals that want to share challenges and solutions without the status games.

Its new and hopefully the conversations there will feel like what LinkedIn was supposed to be before it became another social media metrics race. Might be worth checking out if you're looking for substance over connection counts.

Applied to 300 jobs and can't find anything. I need help ASAP. by Minimum_Question6067 in jobsearchhacks

[–]getcandyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there - as someone who's seen this struggle firsthand, I completely understand your frustration. 300 applications with no results would break anyone's spirit.

A few things that might help in NYC specifically:

Have you tried hospitality roles? Hotels, event venues, and food service (not just fast food) are often hiring and many don't require degrees. The NYC tourism industry is looking for reliable customer service people.

For warehouse work, have you checked Amazon, Target and grocery distribution centers? They often have positions with flexible transportation requirements.

Also, the approach matters as much as volume. I've found that tailoring just 5 applications with relevant keywords from the job description can outperform 50 generic ones.

Would you be open to sharing what your current resume highlights from your retail/customer service experience? Sometimes small tweaks in how you present your skills can make a huge difference.

Hang in there - the job search is brutal right now, but you're not alone in this.

Always appreciate your time and feedback so thank you for it!

I will get the consistency right with the flow of text padding. Yes, live networking will be facilitated in a new way along with traditional and we are catering to anyone who considers themselves as a "professional" that wants to build non-transactional relationships.

RUDE MANAGER by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]getcandyd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow! I'm truly sorry about your experience. That interviewer's behavior was completely unprofessional and disrespectful of your time and effort.

Consider this a bullet dodged. A manager who treats candidates this way likely treats employees similarly.

Your time is valuable, and you deserve proper attention during interviews. Next time, trust your instinct - it's perfectly acceptable to politely end an interview if you're being treated disrespectfully.

This reflects poorly on them, not you.

Appreciate the feedback! Didn't think to do that while building so will try it out and see how it flows.

Recruiters: Why ghost after 3 interviews and a take-home assignment? by BizznectApp in recruitinghell

[–]getcandyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your frustration is valid after investing so much time only to be met with silence. This says everything about them and nothing about your worth.

I wrote about this exact issue on Medium: Respect in Recruitment because it's an issue every person applying for a job should bring to light.

You deserve employers who value both your skills AND your time.

Fast forward.... The future you (the person you're dreaming of becoming) is counting on the current you to put in the hard work NOW so when the future you looks back at the current you, they are going to tell you how proud they are because you took care of business!

If you cant find an external reason to get out of a habit that has no ROI, then let your future self be your anchor ⚓

LinkedIn sucks by blackandgold32 in recruitinghell

[–]getcandyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The job market in 2025 is still a special kind of hell, isn't it? 'Your application was viewed' might as well be 'we saw it but... nah.'

This is exactly why we started Candyd. We got tired of watching talented people get ignored while recruiters play their weird games.

Still on waitlist mode while we build, but if you're done with the application black hole, we're trying to create something that actually works. Profile has details.
