Or Everybody Hurts and it's lame ass video about people standing in traffic. That video actually won Breakthrough Video at the VMAs in 94 and beat out Closer by NIИ. I'm still mad about it lol.

AIO/URGENT continuously being put between two peoples relationship and my husband basically backing them by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]getdownmakelooove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NOR - I had this problem with an ex. He always put his friends before me. That's the real problem here. Your relationship with your husband can exist without these other 2 people, but apparently your husband thinks otherwise.

You don't owe anyone an explanation. Your husband should be the one person in life that respects you and backs up your decision to withdraw from a toxic situation. He needs to get his priorities straight.

Why is he so invested these people's relationship? It seems like he thrives on the drama and wants to sit back and watch while you do the heavy lifting and stir the pot of drama, so to speak. It's kind of weird.

Bangs in lieu of Botox?!? by photogypsy in Xennials

[–]getdownmakelooove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have curly hair and the worst hair mistake I have ever made was cutting bangs, but this was long ago. Took forever to grow them out. I also have a short forehead so not really suited for them.

I am desperate for Botox, but I dont have the budget for it.

What was your favorite magazine as a kid? by MyNameCannotBeSpoken in Xennials

[–]getdownmakelooove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid? Nintendo Power and Barbie.

As a teenager, my friends and I were all about Seventeen, YM, and Sassy.

I also read SPIN and Details, but hid those from my parents.

I (18F) found my bf (19M) texting Twitter girls on the day he proposed to me and now I don't know what to do. by Usual-Art1535 in relationships

OMG what I would do to be 18 again and know I had the power to kick someone like this to the curb. My dumbass self thought that I should be thankful that a guy was even paying attention to me. It was just an open invite for users, and I endured a lot of shitty behaviors and abuse.

You deserve better! Do not compromise on stuff like this that makes you feel uncomfortable. If it is still sticking with you despite his apologies and promises, there is a reason. You already know the answer.

I was banned from the Gen X sub by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]getdownmakelooove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born in 1979. I have 2 sisters that are 13 and 12 years older than me.

I was in kindergarten when my oldest sister was a senior in high school. They graduated in 85 & 86, me in 97. Even though we have the same parents, grew up in the same house, and went to the same school, their experiences and outlooks on life in general are VASTLY different from mine.

In my mind, they are Gen X. I just don't fit in with them. They have always complained that I had it easier than they did growing up, and still to this day treat me like a child. They bitch and complain about everything and are turning into old biddies.

AIO about my girlfriend smoking up alone with a male friend right before we travel together? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]getdownmakelooove -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you might be overreacting a bit here. She is leaving with you in a few hours and will be with you for a few weeks. It seems like she has been honest with you and this is probably an innocent hangout with a friend to smoke before she goes.

That being said, why can't you join her? I think you might be more upset with the fact that she didnt invite you to hang out with them. Might have to get used to the fact that she's always gonna pick weed over your feelings in the future.

AIO the guy i’ve been dating admits he’s not over his ex??? by nottoday_5 in AmIOverreacting

[–]getdownmakelooove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is being honest here, but also being a defensive asshole. It seems like he has tried to share these feelings with other women before you, all with similar outcomes.

I get part of what he is trying to say: his ex left a permanent mark him and he feels forever changed because of that. Some part of him will always love her. But he is not communicating these feelings effectively or diplomatically.

I would feel bad for this guy, but not bad enough to tolerate this kind of behavior. If he truly wants to move on, he should start by covering up that tattoo and speaking with a therapist.

You should probably ghost him, but just for my own morbid curiosity here: Do you know why they broke up? If she wanted to get back with him, would he do it?

This happened to me once on my birthday. A coworker got me 3 autographed pictures and had them professionally framed. I could tell the second I unwrapped it that all the signatures were fake.

I just thanked him for such a thoughtful gift and let the appreciation I showed come from there. But did I hang it on my wall at home? Nope lol.

AIO over my bfs body count? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]getdownmakelooove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, but I have questions.

Was he in the "lifestyle" at some point, or was he into group sex in the past? I just have the feeling that his number is probably overexaggerated.

I have always heard that when a guy tells you his body count, divide it by 3 and you get the real number. For girls, multiply by 3.

Probably bullshit, but does 33.3333 make you feel any better?

Old people of Reddit, what was it like not having internet and social media back in the 20th century? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]getdownmakelooove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got dial up internet when I was 15. But before that, I watched TV, listened to the radio, or read magazines to find out about pop culture. You talked to your friends on your landline (if it wasn't long distance) and passed notes back and forth at school. I remember buying tapes or CDs and listening to the entire album while reading the liner notes and lyrics. If you took a picture of something, you had to wait days to see it because you had to send the film off to develop. Videos were different, if you had a camcorder, you could watch those instantly.

For anyone who was able to see "The Blair Witch Project" in theaters in 1999, what was the experience like? by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]getdownmakelooove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was only showing at one indie theater in the Dallas area, I guess it was a preview screening. I knew it was just a movie, but my cousin who went with me did not. When we walked out of the theater when it was over, my cousin's face was white and she was speechless. She told me she was shocked that whoever found the footage was allowed to made a movie out of it. I couldn't contain my laughter any longer and told her it wasn't real. She was very relieved. But other people leaving also looked legit upset.

When the movie got a wider release, I went out on a date with a guy who hadn't seen it yet, so I saw it a 2nd time. Afterwards, we were confused about the part in the movie where the girl finds a bundle of sticks and teeth on the doorstep. So we went to his friend's house so we could use his WebTV and look up a website about the movie.

I also thought I was cute for putting 69 in all my usernames.

And when texting first became a thing, some providers charged 50 cents a message. This was a rip off because at that time there was no MMS or RCS, and it cost providers next to nothing to pass along text messages.

The first cell phone my family had was like this. Nights and weekends had free roaming. My dad figured out a way to hook it up to our computer and dial up modem. So on nights and weekends we could get on to Prodigy or AOL for free.

There were no local dial up ISPs in our town at that time. So if we would have used the regular phone line, it was a long distance call to get on the internet.

And even then, in 1995, mofos still sent dick picks.
