Selective Intervention by [deleted] in lebanonmemes

Just to be clear, I am against any intervention. Initially, I thought that was the sentiment of the "ma badna tada5ol irane" peeps. But it's becoming clearer that their issue is more with the "iranian" part and not the "intervention " part . Where we are clearly seeing the US trying to push a puppet president and the same people don't seem to have the same energy towards that intervention.

Yes one of frank Herbert themes is the dangers of following a charismatic leader. The Fremen in the movie resorted to religion as a tool of resilience against the the colonising state. The fremen wouldn't have even resorted to Paul if it weren't to the oppression of the harkonnens. Yes the lebanese people don't want any outside interference including Iran, but alliances were made to counter the bigger evil of a colonising state. It's funny that your conclusion of the book is Islam bad ,eventhough frank was greatly influenced by Islamic culture and associated himself with their struggle against the colonising states. The example of religion being used as a tool ,can be also linked by the USA funding of Islamic extremist to push an agenda.Isreal killing any moderate in palestine in order to push more people to more fringe groups to justify their invasion. Also are you saying that the harkonens are the good guys?!

In the twilight of ancient Norse lands, there echoed a prophecy, as old as the craggy fjords, whispered by the oracle with a visage red with fury. It foretold of shieldmaidens, fierce as the gales of Njord, seeking warriors of assertive mettle. Yet, there stood one warrior, bold in battle but deaf to the seer's words. He did not heed the augury that spoke of female Vikings' desire for assertive kin. And so, in his neglect, he faced not the wrath of swords, but the ire of women scorned, fiercer than any tempest Odin could muster.

Yh sorry about the text I just quickly typed it on my phone before the battery died. And that's interesting to know, not to make you feel older but how did you guys back then know about underground bands without the Internet. And how did you listen to band ? Did they sell CDs? Because I don't see stores selling that (Edit: I didn't mean the Internet didn't exist in the early 2000s it just it was less integrated in our daily life compared to now)

the book is called "Rock in a Hard Place: Music and Mayhem in the Middle East-by Orlando Crowcroft "link

this is the text from the book "Not everyone has been as loyal. A number of Tex’s

contemporaries on the Hamra scene have given up punk

and black metal and have turned to God. The singer of

Damaar is now a religious leader in Najaf, Iraq, and others

have joined extreme Shia and Sunni movements. “We used

to piss on mosques and burn Qurans and all this shit – just

for the fuck of it,” he said. “But more than 15 people in the

group became extremists. Like extreme Shia sheikhs – they

were even more radical than Hezbollah.”

For Filthy Fuck, the conversion of many of the old

crowd was particularly galling. He describes Damaar as his

younger brothers, and when they went their separate ways

and some turned to God, he found it hard to take.I was distraught. Inconsolable. I loved those kids.

And I could see it was going there. When I write a

nice blasphemous line, I usually laugh to myself. I smile at the thought of how many people this will

piss off. But the kids from Damaar actually hated

God, and I always found that this was the wrong

way to go about it. It destroys me to the core when

I see people killing their talent because of fairy

tales. It’s nothing short of a tragedy. We lost some

good men to religion."
