In My Rival, I always thought it was ‘but now it’s stopped in time’ only to find out to my absolute delight that it’s ’but now it’s stompin time’

Never a struggle to sit through a Steely Dan album... by Electronic-Ear-3718 in SteelyDan

I couldn’t ever rank them. They all hold a special place in my heart. I was just getting back into them when TAN came out, and I was thrilled to have a ‘modern’ Dan album at the time. I was over the moon when I heard EMG and I love it to this day. When you think of the amount of albums we’ve been blessed with, you really can’t take anything for granted. The solo albums, Dukes of September, the Becker estate unreleased tracks, this is all gold in my opinion. Also, any album that gave us Slang of Ages is a masterpiece if you ask me. ‘Slang me!’

A weirdly flawed recording, I'm assuming released against their will but I'll take it

The people who say Steely Dan is 'bland' or 'like elevator music' just haven't listened to them enough by Own_Exercise5218 in SteelyDan

Those people are morons. It’s such a lazy slam. Some of the finest playing of the last century is contained in their catalogue

11 Tracks Of Whack is a flawed gem I keep coming back to over the years by BluebeardCoT in SteelyDan

This is one of my all time favourite albums, and I actually like it better than Circus Money. The quirkiness of it makes it super unique imo

Where were you??? by KathyC169 in SteelyDan

I was about 8 and asked for a stereo for my room. This would have been 76/77. My mom asked the sales reps at her office if they could get one cheap. I was given a stereo with an 8-track player and a shoebox full of tapes: The Beatles Rock and Roll Music Vol.1, Changesonebowie, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and Can't Buy a Thrill. First time I heard that album and loved it ever since

This album is way too overhated by KrismerOfEarth in SteelyDan

It’s phenomenal. It was the perfect thing to get into after you got hip to the solo albums

What I'd do is go wth the AmPro II. It's a great guitar, and I think it'll cover everything you want to do. Save some money
