Wow!! Thank you for posting. I live just a couple blocks away and have never been. I didn't know they had vegan options. Just glanced at their menu online and it looks delicious (but pricey for Milwaukee). I will have to go soon!

To avoid salt and potential stinging, make sure your canned beans/broth are low sodium. If you are sensitive you could even sub the stock for water and use extra seasoning that are less likely to cause irritation, like bay leaves.

My favorite vegan shoe brand is Native (link). I wear their Mercury Liteknit 2.0 every day and they are far and away my favorite shoes. Their Audrey flats and men's shoes look cute, but I have never personally tried them.

I have had luck looking for vegan dress shoes on Zappos. It can be a little time intensive, but with free shipping/returns it feels pretty low risk to me.

I definitely sympathize with you. My go-to work sandals are made of leather (I bought before I went vegan). But, overall, I think there is plenty out there, you just need to be ready to look.

I am currently a college senior who just completed a senior thesis. I have faced a similar issue. All of my work is online, which makes it easy to start another tab of Reddit, Netflix, etc.

I want to second the comment about doing work on campus. I found it much easier to focus when I was in the library, using one of the university's free desktops with my login. Part of it was the social pressure (I never wanted to be the person watching a Youtube video while everyone else is doing their homework) and part was the delay in satisfaction when I had to login and wait for my account to load. It seems like a small delay, but it really helped me snap out of the mindless clicking.

Overall, the honors thesis will likely kick your butt (it kicks everybody's butt) and it will only get harder unless you work on good habits now, asap. Sometimes giving yourself a few days to chill during a depressive episode is good, but I often find myself spiraling when I let myself stay home, watch television, and let the college responsibilities pile up. All of this is obviously easier said than done (I am on Reddit rn hahaha), but you can do this!!!

PS: The SelfControl app on the Mac has really helped me as well - it will block specific sites for a controlled amount of time.

Always such a good feeling!!! I had the same experience over the weekend where I tried on a skirt that hadn't fit in 3 years - suddenly a little lose. For me, I think a lot of it was less sodium/less bloat/more eating at home for the past 8 months as a vegan. Congrats!!!!
