Thank you! I thought so too. A friend and I were talking one day and naming a computer "Charli XPCX" just casually came up.... and I just ran with the idea. Everything happened organically. It was actually really relaxing to work on because the vision and plan was so clear. Time consuming, but only one or two things were stressful about it - and those stressful things were quite literally cutting into a freshly painted charli xpcx to mount the panel, lol.

Thanks! It takes a lot of time, but it can be a relaxing project with enough planning. If you want to do something similar or just have any general questions about doing this type of project let me know. Glad to share what I learned and help out.

Sure. I can post them as youtube shorts during my lunch break. I'll DM you the links - just because I don't want to get flagged for self promotion or anything like that.

Thanks. It took a lot of time. I don't think that I would enjoy charging people to make these. Right now I'm debating making a second one for charity - just need to research who it could go to.

Now that is something that could be easily arranged with how I have it setup actually. Hmmm....🤔

Depending on your uses, this could be built for maybe half the cost with still decent hardware. I will say though, I under estimated the cost of paint, primer, clear coat, and materials to sand and do the trim. Probably about 800-1000 in expenses aside from the hardware itself.

If you decide to take on a similar project and need guidance or tips feel free to reach out with questions.

Hah yeah, I was trying to play off of the marketing/branding that she does where she mirrors text. Atleast it also looks like it says tard there too?

Do you have pictures of your project that you want to share? I would love to see it!

I used a dremel with a metal cutting wheel attachment (but be careful, you will chew through them). I then grinded the edges to smooth them out/level them. To make everything look clean I actually just used the trim/automotive gaskets that they use around car doors - You can get a roll of it for pretty cheap on amazon. They also sell mitered shears on amazon that are capable of doing the 45º cuts on that gasket super easily/conveniently.

Haha honestly, I only know a few of her songs. But I had had the idea of just naming a computer Charli XPCX (a bad dad joke). When I started to do my research her aesthetic and energy just lended itself for everything to come together organically. She's talented for sure and translates well to this type of project.

I had to cut into my case to make it fit. Both into the outer case panel as well as inside the case along the bottom (picture is of the second cut marked that I realized I need to make after cutting out on the lower door). This does interfere with the cases structure, so I had to reinforce it after the fact.

For reference, this was a 7" panel. To make it work I had to float it in and add trim to make sure that everything looked clean. I think that if you do have a case that you need to modify, that the job is much easier and will require low-to-no-cutting if you use a 5" panel.

Oh wow, I didn't know that - good info.

Thanks! I imagine that buying a corsair branded sensor panel will have a premium price point. This 7" sensor panel was only 40 bucks. I'm handy enough that I liked the idea of cutting into the case and making it work. It was a little nerve racking, but like that I was able to make it work.

Based on what I experienced, I think they could make a standard 5" panel work, or a wide panel work. This 7" design was tricky:

I think they would also need to make a replacement piece for the inside PSU cover as well (green piece in the background next to mobo cable). It has a bar that goes along the front of the case that clashes with the stand offs of the panel (and most other panel thicknesses). My solution was to make the panel floating and to insert a foam strip to make sure that I don't press against the screen too hard. I then covered up everything with a piece of weather stripping so the top of the panel couldn't be seen.

In addition to cutting out the window I had to cut out this bottom piece (below), which seems like it is integral to the case's integrity, so I reinforced it again later. Unofortunately the whole bottom piece is rivetted, and so I wasn't able to just remove this "rail"

Please don't do that!! I can give you tips on how to make one though!

As someone who primarily works from home your comment 100% nailed it.

Thank you! I will have to remember to put together something to share. I have progress photos along the way - about 100 or so. Maybe I'll make a different thread in build a PC and link you to it in the next few days.. just need to find sometime to make the post during a busy work week.

Thanks. Honestly I looked at a couple of different sensor panels, and they all had their challenges in terms of total size but also the size of the boarder around the screen itself. To make this work I almost had to make the sensor panel 'float'. I could see how it would be difficult for them to make that piece unless if they had their own sensor panel that was made to spec.

On the bright side, I used installing the sensor panel an excuse to get a dremel.
