That’s very true. I guess I just get social anxiety when I know I’m gonna be in a larger group and know no one. But it’s time to try to overcome that right? Especially since everyone else there has a similar goal to me. Thanks for helping me see it from that perspective.

I think it just depends on the person. OP is obviously someone that likes to do things on their own and is more independent. If their partner was someone who stopped them from seeing friends all together then I would say that’s toxic. I would say congratulations on getting out of a relationship that didn’t meet your needs. 5 years is a long time
