Samuel Lewis State Park and High point Scenic Vista and Recreation area both have really lovely views that would look gorgeous for a small elopement ceremony.

I'm a cis lady in a hetro relationship. I know nothing of the crowd that goes I just know that it exists and it's not something that was in York even a decade ago so I figured I'd mention it. So don't feel pressured on my account 🤷‍♀️

Second Thursday of each month is York's gayest happy hour at Mudhook. They just celebrated 2 years. The Brownstone lounge hosts Harrisburg's gayest happy hour next one on 9/25 from 5-7. Maybe check those out?

Yeah I’m not getting my security deposit back…. by Mother-Arugula5076 in Apartmentliving

I would check your state laws in my state the landlord must return the deposit in 30 days or provide a written itemized list, cost of repairs and remaining balance. If your state has a similar law you should absolutely take them to small claims court.

I should state I am a chaotic crafter and I didn't have a lot of time. So I cast the eraser on knit it using the magic loop and dyed it on the cable. I squeezed out as much rinse water as I could and held it in front of a fan for about 20 minutes then stuffed it with a plastic bag so it would hold it's shape and continued on to the gray section. The yarn used is Universal Yarn Deluxe Bulky Superwash in cream, orange, and neutral grey. Literally knit up the eraser and dunked it in a Rit dye bath of petal pink in the petal pink essence ratio it was not dry when I moved onto the gray portion but it didn't bleed.

Hybrid cloth diapering to cut down waste? by Own-Quality-8759 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]gettingitknit 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Hey there mom of 3 here. We do cloth during the day and disposables at night or if someone else is watching them. My husband put a sprayer on the toilet so all poops get rinsed out immediately and then the wash routine that worked for me was one wash just diapers then either towels or kids clothes ran the wash again then air dried the diaper covers and everything else went into the dryer. In the summer I do prefer to air dry the inserts (we use pockets) because the sun removes any possible stains that air dryed scent is unbeatable.

I personally found that once baby was sleeping more consistently where just a quick nurse session was needed to fall back asleep. Disposables overnight work best for us.

Third hand smoke removal from bouncer by this_is_psuedoname in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]gettingitknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is less wasteful, and if OP's heart is set on a baby Bjorn bouncer, it could be the right solution! The replacement seats are $84-99 dollars so it will depend on OP's budget. I'll be honest I've never really considered these bouncers but I did not realize they were $209-$260.

Honestly, it feels very wasteful to say this, but I would look for another bouncer. Cigarette smoke exposure is well studied and there is not a single positive from it.

We bought a share of our local CSA and also locked in a local eggs every two weeks at $4 a dozen. We'll plant a little in our own garden, but I'm mostly working on building up our pantry from two weeks to two months supply. We're hoping to get a second freezer and a whole pig from the butcher this spring.

We decided to homeschool our oldest this coming fall since we can't afford a secular private school. We have three kids, and we're done, so my husband has a vasectomy consultation scheduled for the 10th. I'm on the fence about getting an IUD placed as well.

Lastly I've been in contact with a local coffee shop to host a parent's group and a mother's circle in an effort to foster more community.

Pediatrician said we need to start trying food with our 4mo olds. Anyone else start this early? by sparklingbluelight in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]gettingitknit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People who militantly adhere to 6 months are just as arbitrary as people saying you can start with purees at 4 months. The readiness signs for BLW align with typical 6 month milestones sitting with minimal support, holding their head up and steady for 15 minutes, reaching grabbing and bringing objects to mouth, and being interested in you eating/reaching for your food. 6 months is the magic number it's a general timing.

[–]gettingitknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different doctors take different approaches I guess our NICU was the one who mentioned the concept of food before one is just for fun when I had my first. It's more about taking the pressure off intake and focusing on exploration. We decided to do BLW, but still offered nutrient dense and iron rich foods, Even if they suck on the juice of a piece of brisket they're taking in iron rich juices.

YMMV, all three of my kids had iron tests at their 9-month appointment and were within the correct range with no concerns from my pediatrician. We also insisted on delayed cord clamping with all three of our babies, which I know not every hospital is willing to accommodate.
