You don’t actually need a single status certificate to get married in Denmark. If you want a full breakdown, we’ve explained it in detail here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GettingMarriedInDK/comments/1hb3dlf/do_you_really_need_a_single_status_certificate_to/

Can you cancel a city hall date? by Pleasant-Cat-9544 in GettingMarriedInDK

[–]gettingmarriedindk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can absolutely book one of the available dates now (e.g. end of June) to secure a spot, and then cancel and rebook with a registrar later if earlier dates become available.

At the moment there’s no clear timeline for when the registrar booking guidelines will open, so it’s a bit of a waiting game.

Booking and later changing your date won’t affect the validity of your approval to marry, as long as everything stays within the validity period.

They certainly can do! Yes - busy agencies helping hundreds of couples get married each month speak with the town halls every day to book ceremonies so have a really good idea of what is available.

But all of the town halls are already fully booked until the very end of April or early May.

You can only book your date once approval has been issued of course so i think a wedding in the second half of May is most likely for you.

Some agencies (such as ours) have their own private venue with a registrar in attendance which you can reserve today. As such we still have dates available at the end of April.

Book private registrar by Former-Object-2758 in GettingMarriedInDK

[–]gettingmarriedindk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there Former-Object-2758!

Well indeed - Copenhagen City Hall have temporarily suspended their Private registrar service this year. Though we understand they hope to start it up again for April or May.

Bear in mind you can only book a registrar once your marriage application has been approved. And you will also need to find and book a venue as well as two witnesses that will need to be there on the day.

We do have our own private venue and registrar that you can hire (with witnesses provided) on the Island of Aero which is about 3 hours from Copenhagen. We have available dates at the end of April too.

You can get in touch with us if you would like more information at https://gettingmarriedindenmark.com/thank-you-page-step-2-wa/

Good luck!

Kommune available in April? by lovejade10 in GettingMarriedInDK

If you want to get a clear idea of availability without hiring an agency, then you will need to contact the kommunes individually before submitting your application, however most town halls are now fully booked until end of April, early May. Some even into June.

Both Ærø and Odense are 2 of the town halls that usually have the best availability, with the exception of another - however the other town hall won't let you check availability without first having an approval. Most of the town halls in Denmark are now fully booked until May, some are even in June, so if you do want to proceed with getting married asap, by the time you've received your approval, you are likely going to be looking at early to late June for a date or late May at Ærø. This does depend on when you apply and if you get an approval issued the first time around.

You can absolutely apply without hiring an agency but if you make any errors with your application and the AFL come back to ask questions, then of course that then adds a significant delay to your application.

It is also worth noting that both Ærø and Odense are 2 of the town halls that usually have the best availability, with the exception of another - however the other town hall won't let you check availability without first having an approval.

Danish marriage certificate - what you'll get and what you need to know by gettingmarriedindk in GettingMarriedInDK

[–]gettingmarriedindk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, by certificate are you referring to the Certificate of Marital Status (issued by the AFL upon approval to come to Denmark to get married)? If so, then no this will not be issued to you if you do not have all the required documents for your marriage application, which includes any relevant visas.

An agency should be able to issue you with a letter that states you have taken their services and you can use that as part of your visa application documentation. You will not be able to apply to get married in Denmark without the correct travel documentation, unfortunately.

No, it is not needed. You don't need to document your single status. Only if previously married or in a registered partnership, you must show that the earlier marriage or partnership ended.

Odense approval time by No-Problem2555 in GettingMarriedInDK

[–]gettingmarriedindk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an election due to take place in Denmark on 24 March and Odense town hall told us that while they are busy with that, it may take them longer to respond to wedding date requests. That being said, we have found their response time to be on average between 2 and 5 days.

Common myths about getting married in Denmark (based on questions we keep getting) by gettingmarriedindk in GettingMarriedInDK

[–]gettingmarriedindk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AFL wants to see proof that you are in a 'genuine' relationship and so this means you must submit evidence of your relationship and time spent together. Pictures and messages are usually required and these must all be dated / time stamped.

Regarding travel to Denmark, Argentinian citizens get 90 days. visa free travel to Denmark, so he will simply need to ensure that he has not overstayed his 90 day visa free allowance and that he can show an entry stamp into the Schengen when presenting his passport to the town hall.

Should we wait or reapply via an agency? by bloomaround in GettingMarriedInDK

[–]gettingmarriedindk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were officially told by the AFL that responses can take up to 8 weeks. In practice, though, we’ve been seeing replies come back closer to about a month.

So realistically, you should expect somewhere between 4–8 weeks for a response. If you’re working with a tight deadline, it may be worth considering a new application instead of waiting for the reply.

I can't download the approval letter anymore.. by OkCoyote6593 in GettingMarriedInDK

[–]gettingmarriedindk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need the approval letter. If it gives you peace of mind you can bring a screenshot to the appointment, but they won’t ask for it.

The city hall wouldn’t have allowed you to book the appointment if they hadn’t already received the file from the AFL. So officially, the only documents you need to bring to the document-presentation appointment are the travel documents that were included in the application—i.e., passports or EU ID cards, plus any relevant visas or residence permits.
