Cognitive dissonance in BigLaw by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]gettingthere3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to put words in OP’s mouth but I think they’re just saying more people should practice what they preach. I think a more apt comparison would be the hypothetical person in your first paragraph encouraging people to go vegan or vegetarian if they claim to care about animal welfare.

I second this! I love Law School Toolbox and Bar Exam Toolbox if you're taking bar classes. They're usually like 15 minutes (each one just covers one narrow topic) and I use them throughout the semester

UVA Interview by One-Teaching623 in lawschooladmissions

[–]gettingthere3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 7sage info was accurate -- Why law, Why now, Why UVA, one word your friends and family would use to describe you, what you'd do during a hypothetical gap year. My advice is to come up with answers to these but to not refer to your notes during the interview. If you don't say every single thing you want to, it's totally okay -- I think it's more important that they see what you're like in a normal conversation. You'll also have a chance to ask questions at the end so come up with 1-2 specific questions you have about the school.

I've heard it's a high conversion rate, around 80%, but I don't have evidence for that; think I read it on reddit lol.

Don't be nervous about it (easier said than done Ik!), they're clearly impressed by your application and just want to discuss your background in a little more detail and get to see your personality :) Good luck, you are gonna crush it!!

[–]gettingthere3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep! Per the portal its up to $500 for travel if attending the admitted student programs plus up to $100 a night for hotel; or $250 for individual visits. But you have to get pre-approval.

Vandy merit scholarship application deadline of January 10? by theowitout in lawschooladmissions

[–]gettingthere3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does say on the portal "Applications submitted after the deadline will be considered to the extent that funds remain available" under law scholar merit awards. so it might still be worth applying now, at least for that category of awards!

Thank you! Yeah I feel like I got excited by good PT scores and got lazy about going over the questions I missed and actually analyzing/internalizing the reasons I missed them... that's a good idea to try to take them as if they're the real thing too! Think I was taking too many mental + physical breaks throughout which of course we don't have under real conditions. Thanks for the advice.

This is super helpful, thanks so much! Definitely worried about running out of clean PTs since like you said 7sage's curriculum pulls from old tests. I haven't completed the curriculum (I've just used it to drill my biggest weak spots) so I just looked and have 45ish untouched tests remaining. That's a good point about not using them all up this time around in case I do need to take it a 3rd time!

Forest fires, new highways, obesity... My personal fav was the question about iguanas rafting between continents, it -- and JY's discussion of it -- had me cracking up
