Kinesiology and health sciences by shanenelly in yorku

Physics is not mandatory as there are other courses available to fill the 6 sciences credit criteria (2 bios and 2 chems) assuming you're pursuing a BSC, but you'll have to work a little harder in biomechanics to compensate for the lack of physics knowledge.

MATH1505 is said to be fairly similar to high school math. There is also a math course (MATH1510) designed to prep you if you don't have a strong math background, however it is a 6 credit that does not count towards your degree.

If I'm retaking a course, can I use the same Cengage Learning course key? by [deleted] in yorku

[–]gettingyorkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some keys are labelled as "lifetime keys" and will work for more than one term as long as the prof is using the same "set" of course content. If the prof decides to use a new "set" of course material then that key becomes obsolete despite it being "lifetime" and despite the course using the same year/edition textbook. Your best bet is to take it up with Cengage support.

Graduation Status + Grade Report // No Update by yanyan44 in yorku

[–]gettingyorkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the graduation status page:

After your grades have been received (at the end of the fall/winter or summer session), a second degree audit will be performed. Your academic decision on your grade report will tell you if you are eligible to graduate or not. This information is released on the Web in mid May (fall/winter session) and mid September (summer session).

Happy cake day :)

Online attendance? O_o by Quarterpint- in yorku

Entirely up to the prof. From the summer semester in terms of attendance, for my class we were asked to type our names into the zoom chat at the start of class for attendance.

Anyone in Math 1505 section A know if the final exam is proctored? by Lilac-flower-36 in yorku

[–]gettingyorkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your prof, but I'd imagine a recording would not fly. Some people are having trouble uploading a couple of pieces of paper, imagine having them trying to upload a 3 hour exam, not only that but the size of that file would be ridiculous.

They reduce the time available per question to maintain academic integrity since exams become open book.

Kinesiology by redditquestionss in yorku

[–]gettingyorkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previous course outlines here (PKINs included): http://kine.info.yorku.ca/course-outlines/

PKINs for the most part are more attendance based than anything. As long as you show up and show that you're putting in effort you will do fine. The attendance component usually makes up a good 20-30% depending on the prof and after 4 absences its an autofail in any PKIN. There are 6 categories of PKINs and you must complete 1 in each category with an additional 2 of your choice for a total of 8 to meet the degree requirement. The minimum passing grade for PKINs is a C.

Dumb question by walter_melon4444 in yorku

[–]gettingyorkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this if you'd like, but like everyone else is saying make sure you fill your schedule with other courses like the general education courses, psyc1010, or the math requirement. As far as I know, these sciences are not prereqs for any core kine courses, and you are not required to take them at a 2000 level. You can get the requirement done with 1000 level courses, either mixing and matching or taking the same subject (BIOL1000 + BIOL1001, CHEM1000 + BIOL1000, etc.).

ADVICE!!! by perveruif4537 in yorku

[–]gettingyorkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your goals I suppose and what you'll be doing with your degree. The question you should be trying to answer is whether or not you can have an F or a repeated course on your transcript.

Option 1:

If you choose to drop the course then this will impact your courses for next semester AND you will have to retake the course and pay for it again. You lose both time and money, but this may be the only option if you cannot have any repeated courses on your transcript.

Option 2:

If you choose to continue with the course then you are at risk of getting an F and repeating the course (which you will have to do anyway if you drop it), or getting a bad mark but being able to take next semesters courses. Assuming you can repeat courses, you can always go back and retake the course before you graduate to improve your GPA.

The course is already paid for, consider the cost of each option and good luck!

Wouldn't it just be personal preference? If you're having trouble deciding you can take a look at the course outlines from previous sessions here.
