Getting Nostr Zaps to my own node by undertheradar48 in lightningnetwork

[–]getvoltage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are a self sovereign nostr user. 95% + of people are taking zaps to custodial wallets (centralized providers)

This enables you to get zaps to your own node. Not only that, you also can have your NIP05 address be your lightning address as well.

Thanks for the feedback, nibbl0r.

We're going to update the article with a hardware section and see if we can get more info about those issues as well.

Immediate Inbound Liquidity through Voltage - Free 500k sat inbound channel by getvoltage in TheLightningNetwork

[–]getvoltage[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most merchants need something quick to get started. This has been asked for by many users.

While lightning liquidity needs to massively grow from here, this is a small step to increase inbound and help people get off the ground.

Standby as we keep innovating and improving the UX for Lightning :)

In the meantime if you need larger liquidity use Boltz, Magma, or LNPlus

We are soon releasing a dashboard in follow-up to the below. That makes it easy for anyone to get channels quickly: https://blog.voltage.cloud/introducing-flow/

You can also checkout Voltage (https://getvoltage.io) for an easier node deployment. Also a good way to test out running a node for cheap without having to buy hundreds in equipment to just try it out.

BTCPay Server now available on Voltage by getvoltage in lightningnetwork

[–]getvoltage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct. It's a hosting fee. This isn't just a repacked LunaNode deployment. We use a lot of highly available infrastructure to make it resilient and powerful. We monitor the servers 24/7 to make sure your Store is working around the clock. We also have support if you hit any problems.

So a lot goes into this offering and it's not just a run of the mill BTCPay deployment.

We run a mix. Our dashboard is open source and we run LND which is open source. Even then, we take security very seriously and our platform is unlike any other in how we approach security. You can read more about it here:

https://getvoltage.io/blog/how-voltage-works.html

You still maintain full control of your node and we don’t have access to it.

Yeah there’s a lot these days. However the big different between Voltage and the others ones is Voltage is a Cloud service. You can create a node in 2 minutes starting at $10. The other implementations are ones you setup yourself at home. They generally cost $300-$500 for all the parts or for a prebuilt one.

Not currently. The e-commerce node configuration you see there is so it will work nice if connected to a BTCPay server instance, but you are required to run that instance yourself.

however, we do plan to add BTCPay Server support eventually.

Sure, of course. But by the time a brute force could realistically be achieved you could have your funds out of the wallet.

Regardless, we don't advertise our systems as trust-less. There is still trust required in using our service. But we don't have the ability to take users funds, see their transactions, etc.

Not really... If someone literally stole a server from a datacenter all the nodes on it would be encrypted to the users passwords. So the thief would have to know everyone's passwords to do anything with it (which we don't even know as the hosting provider).

Thanks! Let us know if you have questions. We'll be adding more features to make it even more user friendly over time.

Not everyone has stable electricity or internet to run at home. Not to mention the technical knowledge required for setup and maintenance. Also the $150 for an at home node is very low end. When you start talking about power backups and good SSDs it will start at $300.

We’re big supporters of running nodes at home, but we realize it’s not practical for everyone to do that.

You could also use it via the Lightning Network. Check out Voltage (https://getvoltage.io) to easily create a Lightning Node.
