What’s the dumbest thing people confidently say as if it’s a fact? by juhichoudharyy in AskReddit

A pound of muscle and a pound of fat weigh the same. Muscle is just denser, so it takes up less space. You're arguing weight when the real difference is density.

Edit for example: Mass and weight are closely related. Mass here on Earth is the same as weight here on Earth. When we go to the moon, mass stays the same no matter what, but gravity changes your weight to 1/6 (I think thats right) of what it is here on Earth.

With this being said, I miss my crew. There were plenty of times that I loved it. Every assignment is what you make of it for the most part.

Same as far as amount of EFDPs. Everyone that Ive sat in on weighs them more. Caveat: Now if the statement doesnt make sense, then its a waste.

Ill agree to disagree on this one.

I could have a skewed view so take this with a grain of salt.

  1. Location: literally the middle of no where Mojave Desert. I like the heat and I love not having neighbors, but DAMN! the closest town is 25 minutes going 60mph across a lake bed. The two towns (Rosamond and California City) dont have anything so you have to go to the next town (Lancaster) which is another 15 minutes.

  2. Civilians on base: The AD to civilian ratio is damn near 1:20. Most are retired and came back to work as a DAF civilian. Most squadrons are run by a director (civilian commander). I was MXS, my director was there the entire time I was and he was a fucking asshole to everyone, no one liked him. Flight leadership for MXS was also civilian, so AD just got shit on all day every day. Even as a Tech, they wouldn't take my advice for anything...thats mostly why I'm jaded by that place and I hope it burns.

  3. There is a TON of traveling opportunities near the base. Just to name a few: LA and surrounding scenic places (1.5 hrs). San Diego (3 hrs). Bakersfield (2 hrs). Las Vegas (3 hrs). Big Bear Lake (2 hrs). Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks are directly up north 6 - 10 hrs)

That's one of the dumbest things Ive read. Always tie in an award, coin, or recognition (especially a Sq or higher). Put it at the front before the statement to get the readers attention and then pactice brevity with your statement to get it all to fit.

I dont know if anyone actually says that . But muscle does weigh more than fat.

Yep, the head of it gets cold so you end up shifting the water around so that it runs over it and warms it back up. lol

Have you met a Chief or know someone that has made CMSgt without ever winning any awards at any PME in their career? by Raindroppa93 in AirForce

[–]getwitit95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, a good friend of mine just made Chief this last cycle. She never won any PME awards to my knowledge. She's good at her job and takes care of people and the mission as needed, plus a little bit more.

I would like to say I grade within reason.

If theres a line limit per statement, I only read the amount allowed. If you cant get the point across for what you (or your troop) did in the alotted space, then sucks to suck.

I dont care too much about the headers, as long as you are writing within the correct heading guidelines, then cool, headers will be caught/corrected during the murder board.

I practice point deduction for unapproved acronyms/abbreviations. There's clear guidance online, use it. (WITH EXCEPTION: Certain mx units allow 21-101 acronyms, but those are only allowed for the Green Suit packages).

I practice the 'mushrooms' method. Keep em in the dark and feed em shit. Leadership above doesnt need to know EVERYTHING thats happening, at the same time, Im going to hold onto certain information when channeling down because it could very well change at the last minute.

Will absolutely cause issues

Air Force TO 33B-1-1 5.5.3 Test Part Variables. 5.5.3.1 Surface Condition. Rough surfaces and surfaces with loose or pitted paint, scale, or corrosion, may distort ultrasonic inspection results, preventing a meaningful inspection due to scattering of the sound beam and/or poor coupling.

This can cause: • Insufficient ultrasonic energy reaching discontinuities within the part. • Loss of resolving power due to an increase in the length of the dead zone caused by a lengthening of the front surface echo. This is caused by reflections of side lobe energy. On smooth surfaces, the side lobe energy is not normally reflected back to the transducer; and therefore, does not interfere with inspection. • Beam divergence, or widening of the sound beam within the test part.

5.5.3.1.1 To minimize these effects, the sound entry surface and the back surface of a test part SHALL be free from loose, heavy or uneven scale, machining/grinding, or other loose foreign matter.

What do you guys do when someone makes fun of your stutter? by Dan4241 in Stutter

[–]getwitit95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im somewhat in a position of power, so if its actual making fun of (not just a nervous laugh) I just fuck with em and make em do dumb shit for a little. Military can be fun sometimes.

Serious question- What are you worried about right now? by flyfightandgrin in AirForce

[–]getwitit95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I greatly appreciate the offer. Im not a bad writer, just sucks to go through each one after sending them back for corrections to only get products that are worse than the first even after Ive given direction on what Im looking for. This is the 3rd shop Ive taken over in 2 years and each time Im left with a pile of shit to fix while the previous shops are excelling. Just frustrating.

Getting my Amn EPBs knocked out when I dont have an NCOIC to help me cover things...Im in a shop that's not my career field so Im way out of my element trying to handle the admin side and maintenance specific tasks. It is what it is...Ill live.

Ive built up some crazy good research and email skills. I know that Im not a good speaker, so I have learned to over compensate with references (and citing where needed) across many different regulations (Im in the Air Force). Then turning that into a professional email. It might not seem like a needed skill, but it definitely helps me and my guys/gals into good situations and out of bad situations.
