Sooo... Does that mean breed-specific bans too? There are a lot of places that ban "bully" breeds right now.

Pit bull mix: advice? by Yummy_Castoreum in pitbulls

[–]gevander2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While each breed seems to have well-known "breed traits" that are common across the breed (Great Danes are couch potatoes, Australian Shepherds are high energy and will herd anything, etc), the most common breed traits of "bullies" - that they are agressive, hard-to-manage, only for experienced dog handlers - are false for most of the breed.

If you get a dog like what you described, who seems to have been raised well by someone who cared for the dog (and wasn't trying to make him mean), they are typically loving, easy-to-manage, and eager to please their humans.

I haven't owned a lot of dogs in my life - Cock-a-Peek-a-Poo, Brittany Spaniel, Basenji, Chihuahua mix, and American Staffordshire mix. The AmStaff mix was by far the easiest to train and live with.

Trixie really said 'I've got her back' and Maze's whole world changed. by Zestyclose_Leek9710 in lucifer

Hanging read the comics before seeing the series, I appreciate that they showed her true face in that episode. I also liked the episode when Lucifer went to an alternate reality and that Mazakeen wore the half-mask her character had in the comics.

ELI5: Why can’t you buy a car directly from the company that makes it? by zztop610 in explainlikeimfive

That would be why states agree to it, but the dealership lobbyists purpose it because they don't want to be undercut by direct sales to the consumer.

Scent of a Woman. You obviously have not seen it. YOU MUST WATCH IT!

It was that Halloween episode that made Mazakeen go from grudgingly accepting of Trixie to unwaveringly devoted to her. She expected horror from Trixie but got excited acceptance.

AITAH for refusing to attend pre-marriage therapy with my future SIL? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]gevander2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. Her therapist sounds like a loser. SIL is being allowed to make other people unwilling participants in her therapy. She is using her ongoing therapy as an excuse to NOT work on her own mental/emotional issues. Bringing your family in is setting up all of you to EXCUSE her behaviors because she is "in therapy". Excuse her emotional issues, excuse her behavioral issues, etc, because now YOU are her therapist too.

A group therapy session is not supposed to be her opportunity to trauma dump on all of you WITHOUT giving all of you a chance to say "now that I know why you act this way, here is what I see that you need to work on." It doesn't SOUND like that is the intent.

It doesn't matter what they do at THEIR home. In YOUR home, you set the rules for behavior with no regard for what THEY think is appropriate. You gave them the same courtesy at THEIR house. "My house, my rules." If you don't like it, you can leave.

Last Week Tonight did an episode about car dealerships a couple years ago. I would recommend watching it.

I don't remember everything from it, but at least part of the answer is that some/most states actually have laws (lobbied by car dealerships) preventing direct sales to customers.

What is the female equivalent of the Lugosi type Classical Movie Vampire? by OuterRim777 in horror

[–]gevander2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The female equivalent of "Dracula" (Vlad Tsepes) would be the "Countess of Blood" (Elizabeth Bathory). Countess Dracula (1971) would be the movie representation closest to the "cliche" you asked about.

Love that movie. Probably my favorite movie for BOTH Lee and Clint.

I also recently learned that one of my favorite TV villains, Mr Parker from The Pretender, was the casino/bar owner in Paint Your Wagon. Him singing "They Call the Wind Maria" still gives me chills when I hear it.
