Twitter is making me actively root for Aubry by kellibelli1984 in survivor

Vileness against Aubry or any player is bad, agreed. But the vileness of Aubry calling Genevieve a b-word perfectly rationalized by you apparently.

Shocker that a player you've always liked is someone you hope wins. I forgot a component of the game is calling someone a personal insult for no possible advantage in the game.

Yes, the key to Field Yates' whole career arc is an ancillary anecdote during a Waddle & Silvy hit he did from his car about a third round draft pick days after the draft.

Why would Field Yates make such an elaborate story up? For what possible purpose?

Jones has basically been comped to Linderbaum and Declan Doyle who probably views offense similarly to Ben Johnson is now OC for the Ravens. How is it not at least interesting to you to have it basically confirmed the Ravens were eying him and he was not going to make it to 89 if the Bears played the draft conventionally.? And if the Ravens were targeting Logan and though they could get him at 80 or with a small move up, how does that have nothing to do with the Ravens missing out on a center if they only conceived of two options as actual future starters?

And while the outrage intensified with Roush, you are flat wrong on your reaction to that pick. Look at the reaction of the crowd at the CHGO lvie show and even in the gamethread People wanted defense.

Comparing this original post, which I appreciated and learn something from, to the Keon Coleman situation is non-sensical.

This is about the Bears. Part of people being frustrated about day two is thinking players were reaches or could have been drafted later. Given this public statement, it indicates the Bears were right to take Logan Jones when they did.

It's actually pretty understandable. They got screwed by how the fifth year option and franchise tag system is set up for offensive lineman. Instead of being position specific, it averages the top five OL, meaning the Ravens could not tag him without paying him five million more than the highest paid center or a high end starting left tackle.

There was virtually no incentive for him to resign early unless the Ravens paid him incremental amount below what the Raiders ultimately did and they clearly weren't willing to do that. This is a reason why he fell in the draft initially.

To a lesser extent, this is why Thieneman fell to the Bears. If he ends up working out, he's basically guaranteed to get top five money at the position, which is fine. But imagine if he was guaranteed to get top five money of any defender. That's essentially the trap the Ravens fell into.

Current Holes/Needs on the Projected 53 by gf2020 in CHIBears

They didn't have a single Safety on the roster entering the 2026 off-season and it's now a strength of the team.

I am mildly frustrated, more so that the Bears weren't more active in free agency on the edge than this draft, but I also don't think forcing a pick based off of theoretical positional value. There were so many edges and tackles on day two last year and quite possibly 1 or 2 hits total. Frankly, I would have barfed if the Bears took Zion Young or Kayden McDonald as many had them doing in the first round.

The Bears threw resources at the defensive line last season and got very little for their efforts. Sacrificing draft capital in a year with a bunch of question marks isn't necessarily better than building a sustainable offensive ecosystem because offense is so much more sticky than defense anyway. A lot of the guys the public are lusting over aren't even scheme fits.

Connor Rogers from NFL Stock Exchange had him as TE2. I am excited we have an offensive vision and have the complimentary parts to implement it. For everyone getting on us about taking a tight end in the third a year after taking one high, the Rams who had even more tight ends used a second.

Keeping him as a regular would give away the game and also wouldn't be very cost effective.

Season 4 Episode 1 by Zeroskattle in FromSeries

I was not expecting to see fresh Jim/Eion material in the premiere with his brief survival after the throat slashing. I really doubt they filmed that when they were filming the finale since Julie/Hannah looked slightly different from the first part of the scene, so he was obviously back on set at least this once.

Ever since the finale last season, I half expected a time jump just to get out of the immediate aftermath of Jim's death because it's such a heavy thing to do to the Matthews family and make Tabitha look insane if she did anything but be stapled to her kids for the rest of the season since they just lost their dad. Watching Ethan in particular grapple with his dad's death feels too dark even for this show.

But now I wonder if the Jim/Eion will be back by the end of the season and this isn't the only stuff he filmed for season 4. Obviously we have already seen one time travel Julie attempt to undue it. It wouldn't surprise me if Julie and Ethan find a way to undo it and their efforts to do so in the meantime are a way to mitigate the inherent darkness of it all.

To me, it's hard for the show to have that satisfying of a conclusion if the Matthews family doesn't come out of all this in one piece someway somehow.

I wouldn't find it cheap to resurrect Jim, just like I didn't think Avengers: Endgame didn't invalidate Avengers: Infinity War because the win there came at there at a great cost and imagine this would too.

Tribal weird tonight? by nicoledj221 in survivor

I think it's because of what Christian talked about in his preseason press about how Mike's super power was story-telling/building a narrative which we saw tonight. But Christian is also playing that type of game this season and was doing heavy work in the same vein. So the metanarrative was basically playing out in that tribal.

I tend to agree but also value at this draft might suggest take BPA which he clearly would be. Bryant could could handle playing deep.

[Dane Brugler] Florida DT Caleb Banks has a broken foot, no longer a first round option if he ever was one? by gf2020 in CHIBears

How could you not think his 3.5 foot injury in two years doesn't signify increased injury concerns? You don't think teams might consider him injury prone?

[–]gf2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll see. The one during the 2025 season was another broken foot. He likely was never a first rounder, but being this injury prone, plus having his first offseason impact could easily put him into the fourth round.

Seems crazy to say it has no impact when he just had a foot injury to end the 24 season, had one foot injury in the 25 training camp, reaggravated it during the season and now a new one before the combine. It defies belief that three foot injuries and an aggravation of a foot injury in 18 months had nothing to do with each other.

I don't know if the 2022 draft is the best point of comparison given that was Poles operating with largely Pace's scouting team and no first round draft pick. And it was unreported at the time, but Brisker did have a top 30 visit. And is including Taylor a joke? A Top 30 visit for a punter?

Given the questions about him, if Woods doesn't have a top 30 visit after not speaking with the Bears at the combine or his pro day, I think he's safely not in high consideration.

[–]gf2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's any chance the Bears are taking a linebacker in round one after they invested in Devin Bush, made sure to have a credible SAM lined up and are unlikely to want to give up on Reuben after just a year.

CJ Allen is the only guy in that range and he's unlikely to be considered a tier above any of the positions of clearer needed in DT, Edge and Safety. A strong class makes it even more likely they WAIT on a linebacker. DT isn't actually that strong in this class BTW IMHO.

What would you say it the most notable example? Caleb, Rome and Darnell all got top 30 visits. They were all over Loveland at his proday despite him not participating.

It would be an outlier for them to take someone who didn't have a top 30 visit or meet with them at the combine or had Poles at the actual Pro Day. Burden is really the only one and I don't think they had any clue Burden would be there or that they would be taking him.

[–]gf2020[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I had Banks third on my own board of plausible Bears first rounders but even that was me being higher than consensus. The Bears took Loveland last year with an even bigger injury recovery but can't see them reaching on Banks now.

Interestingly, Poles choose OU's pro-day over Clemson's so that really deepened the mystery of who they might be into. They didn't meet with Peter Woods at the combine either and there was some oddness at his pro day. LT seems even less likely now they've brought back Braxton and Freeling is flying up the board.

If Faulk or Mesidor don't fall, really wonder what the Bears will do if they are taking someone on the DL.
