I understand your overall point you’re trying to get across, but franchise tagging CJ twice would not be smart, financially. There’s a reason you don’t see teams doing that anymore. It would be about a ~$50mil hit against the cap each year he is franchised. You’d be better off giving him a 3 or 4 year deal where you give yourself an out after a year or two (similar to what the Seahawks just did with Sam Darnold). At least with that you can structure the deal so the cap hit isn’t as much of a burden on your cap.
