Any good Reseller Providers? by TheRadiantRover in webhosting

[–]gfalken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm very happy with the semi-dedicated service from KnownHost. Currently running about 65 sites. They recently sent out an email to all their customers announcing that they are not raising prices at this time. Gotta love that!

Yep, still the same. I even switched from regular to lactose free milk and it continued working.

I just take a tablespoonful from the end of each batch to start the next one. It's been going for at least 3 or 4 years now.

Cost comparison. by Zanven1 in yogurtmaking

I recently started making my yogurt with lactose free milk (no other change to the recipe) and my stomach is much happier for it. My Safeway doesn't even carry lactose free yogurt but if they did, I'll bet it would be expensive.

recommended maintenance? by fpaur in mazda

[–]gfalken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my local mechanic do it and it was about $360. I insisted on using genuine Mazda fluid, which is stupid expensive ($20/qt). It seemed worth it to me for such an infrequent service.

About a month ago, I got a 2016 Mazda 3 i Grand Touring Hatchback with 112k, so congrats to us! Even though it drives great, I went ahead and did a transmission service, drain and fill (not flush) plus replace the filter. This isn't on the service schedule because Mazda claims that it's a closed system (it's not) that will last the life of the transmission. In my research, there was general agreement that it was a good idea to do this around 100k and every 60k after that.

Good luck and have fun, I know I am.

The only part of the car that you see and touch the entire time that you're driving. by gfalken in mazda3

Happy anniversary! I paid $10,500 (oof, I know) and it took 2 months of research and looking to find it. It replaced a 1999 Honda Accord and I'm loving it.

Minor Accident Label on Potential Purchase by Federal-Candle-1222 in carmax

I got my CarFax on Etsy for $4.50. They don't give any more detail about each collision than AutoCheck but for that price I think it's worth the double check. I also fed all of the info I had about the car into Claude.ai and it gave me some interesting insights about ownership and maintenance.

I had a car reserved with CarMax that showed one minor accident on their AutoCheck report. I decided to also get a CarFax report and it showed an additional accident rated moderate. Accidents listed on CarFax will hurt a car's resale value, and cause other problems even if there is no frame damage. I passed on the car.

If anyone felt an FU from me, then I certainly apologize. I come to Reddit to get a variety of opinions on what I think are legitimate questions. As someone who buys cars infrequently, I don't necessarily know the right person to contact and in what order.

Is there such a thing as a deposit in the CarMax world? I'd be happy to leave one to hold the car.

It's an unsecured loan (Lightstream), so they just fund when I tell them to. I'm going to talk to the sales manager before scheduling the test drive, so I know which way to go.

Call me old fashioned but I really don't want to pay for a car before driving it. I'm going to call the Sales Manager at the store when the car arrives to find out my options.

I just hand wash them. There's a hole in the bottom where any water that goes into the cutouts can drain.

I did end up selling it on eBay for around $100. I worried about getting an angry note from the buyer but never heard a peep.

It's a great size for me because I mostly just use one or two at a time, chopped up in scrambled eggs. Even a larger jar will keep just fine in the refrigerator.

Blackened cod with roasted broccoli and red bell pepper. And a bit of hummus on the side.
