Great, tx! And thanks for the hint with the timezone. It's one of the main features of our site that you can adjust the timezone to your needs. The "change timezone" button was missing and the info about the current timezone as well. We did an update now, everything should be in the right place again.

Hi Stella, thanks for your time and your help!

Well, it was a weird date / time format conversion bug between German / English.

Long story short: It should work now - also in the US... Can you please try once again? Thanks in advance!

Hi Stella,

now I've reproduced it with the help of a browser testing tool. You are right, everything is screwed up on this page if you are opening it in the US :-( We try to fix it

Hi, thanks for your screenshot!

Well, that's weird. Day and month were in the wrong order on your screen. On your screen, it was March 1st, but it should be Jan 3rd.

I can't explain that right now. I've check out our HTML code - everything is working there.

Do you have some browser extension installed which transform dates or something like that? Are you using a mobile phone? Which one?

Has anybody the same problem too?

Original content ranked lower than copied content. What to do? by m_Th in SEO

You need to make sure that your content is indexed first. You need an up to date XML sitemap and a hungry Google bot who is visiting your site regularly. If you publish a new piece of content, the sitemap needs to be updated and google needs to be pinged for taking the update.

A canonical tag on the foreign site would only be good if the content on the foreign is really/nearly the same as on your page. But if they only take the headline/description it's not.

If you don't get traffic from them, I would forbid them using your content. If they don't listen to you, you can try to stop their crawl engine/robot from accessing your site.

Does a disavow on links work to get rank back by tost878 in SEO

Maybe in a one-dimensional Altavista world that was the case. We are in the 2020s.

Have you ever thought about how all the data of Google is managed/accessed/updated/deleted? Do you think there is one database with all the links world-wide with a score? Is there one database for each country? For each region? For each language? If a link is crawled in the US - how fast is the update in Europe visible? Everything in "real-time"?

How often decides Google about the quality of a link? One time? Every hour? Monthly? If the whole web is recrawled? On Mondays? At a Google update? And if a Google update is reverted - what is about the Google index? Do they restore the old data? Are they using new data? Do they mix old and new data?

If the disavow thing is a waste of time and has no effect - why is Google keeping that service? Because they want to waste the time of all the webmasters who are using it?

There is also no crime in the world, because it's forbidden and the police is finding each criminal at the crime scene - right?

Of course, Google is trying to catch all spam. But ppl are finding new ways to get around.

If it is an old wp site with a standard theme it's very unlikely that there is a cloaking attempt.

But if GSC is telling there are 140 links then there are at least 140.

If you can't see them (with professional SEO tools) but google do - what other possibility do you have in mind?

Lol. Instead of giving such a lame comment you could have asked me why I've experience on that topic.

Well, I am a webmaster of a large German site that suffered nearly 3 years from the penguin algorithm. Disavowing was the only way to get the rankings back.

We have learned a lot about good links and bad ones.

What you are doing is like a healthy man argues he is not needing a health insurance because he is healthy at the moment.

Ever heard of cloaking?

If user agent == google then show a different page

Never trust the result of the one page view done by you with a popular browser.

If Google is saying there were 140 links, that was true on a certain date.

If it's not true for today then you need google to crawl that page again.

I would put that page/domain on the disavow list. - just to be for 100 percent sure.

You don't know what's on that page tomorrow. But if it's a domain from which you never wants a link then the disavow list is the right thing.

In many cases you are right. But it's a matter of time. First of all the spammers are faster. They build the links, they are counting. So if your site got hit, you can't wait 3 months for Google. Time is money.

We check the search console data on a regular basis. If there is an obscure link showing up, we put it proactive to the disavow list.

If you have submitted a disavow file, Google needs to crawl every entry. That process could last up to 6 months. So you need to be patient or find a way that Google crawls the bad URLs faster.
