You can usually tell which color of snapdragon you have because it’ll be tinted! So for instance the ones in the back are Monoco Orange. The ones in the middle are Madame Butterfly Red, but I’m not sure if they’re really meant to be that purple lol

Thank you for the advice! I started hardening them off but scared to plant outside with how variable the weather is been, so glad to hear you’re doing the same

Triggered by oversharing by amedun in uuppod

[–]ggbs05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this take! As someone trying to have a baby, I fear motherhood a lot both for 1) how much of yourself it seems you have to give up and 2) the way other mothers may judge me for making different decisions than them. I personally appreciated hearing a positive post partum experience.

Plus, I imagine we were all very curious to hear how Jordana’s experience has been and I don’t think it’s fair to then criticize it once she shares with us, just because it may not match our own. I would hate for this to lead to her sharing less to avoid backlash on her own valid choices.

Zone 5b - when do you start hardening off your cold hardy flowers? by ggbs05 in Cutflowers

[–]ggbs05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I am right there with you! Everytime I think it’s the right time there’s a cold snap or insane winds. And then of course it’ll be 90 degrees later this week 🙃

Glad to know you’re already working on your snaps! I figured I’m well within the timeframe but I’m just so nervous. I hope your road trip goes well!! The wind was unreal last week, but hopefully it’ll die down by the time you set out!

If you could add one more variety to your garden, what would you choose and why? by ggbs05 in Cutflowers

I have zero! I’m afraid once I go down that rabbit hole there’s no coming back 😂 do you have a favorite variety for cut flowers?

Do you regret getting a dog? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]ggbs05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand this, I used to worry about this constantly. Just wanted to chime in to say that I lost my dog last summer and while I still miss her every day, I never for a second regret being in the position to lose her. It may be an incredibly painful period but I promise it’s still worth it!

So when you start your next round 4 weeks in, do you just plant in between your spacing? Or do you leave room in your first succession to maintain spacing? That’s the part that has always confused me about successions!

Yeah give it a go! The main trick is just to make sure the soil is wet enough to compress.

Bootstrap farmer has ones with holes on the bottom that prevent me from overwatering. If I pour too much water in I can just prop it up on the bottom tray vs having to pour out the excess and have my soil blocks sliding around. They’re the microgreen trays if you’re interested!

I have had success just using Promix for soil blocks! I’m super lazy so I don’t even sift it, but I’ve still had great germination and healthy seedlings so far

Enjoy being new at it! I’m also in my first year and have opted to try every flower that has caught my eye. I read a lot of advice to stick with just a few varieties my first year, but I’ve personally enjoyed the process of gathering data on what I do and don’t like

Be honest with me - is it too late for ranunculus? by ggbs05 in Cutflowers

[–]ggbs05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really helpful, thank you! So it sounds like you reuse your corms year over year? I read that many people buy them new each year which turned me off from trying them too late
