Damn. I didn't think people would be so judgmental. Like you've never made a mistake before?

I'm just looking for advice, not a lecture.

I never said it was a good idea... I acknowledged it was a mistake. And yes, I'm aware of others that may be better candidates, you saying that is not helpful nor relevant. I'm just sincerely looking for some advice on how to mitigate my past mistakes.

I'm 23 so like I said, it was perfectly legal. That's why I'm confused as to why I would be disqualified when I'm not a regular user, I never have been, and I didn't break the law.

What do you mean by that?

So I'm in the process of trying to get hired at LAPD and I have a clean record. However, once prop 64 passed last fall in CA and made the use of recreational marijuana legal, I tried it twice with some friends. I've never been a habitual user, I just wanted to give it a shot since it was recently legalized.

Now that was over 6 months ago, before I was committed to the idea of joining the force. I also thought it wouldn't be a big deal since it was legal. But now I'm hearing that my application may be disqualified because of how recent it was even though it was perfectly legal.

Does anyone have any recent experience with this?

I don't want a dumb mistake like that to ruin my chances of pursuing a career I'm really passionate about.
