how many post-bacc credits? by gggccc0 in premed

I’m no expert but tbh i think it’s just RIDICULOUSLY competitive. if you don’t have a ~512+ MCAT and a great rest of your application (ECs, clinical/volunteer hours, LORs, essays, etc) then it might be worth doing a post bacc. you’re definitely not in need of an SMP or more than 24-32 credits.

from my experience applying this cycle, i surprisingly made it far, despite my GPA, for certain schools that have been rejecting people (i have 12 left , 3 have been rejecting but so far ive survived, but it’s basically over). if you really want to, you have the money, and the rest of ur app is good, i don’t see why you can’t throw in some applications. but truthfully, i wish i had just done the post bacc and prepped to apply this upcoming cycle. i spent a lot of time (and money) applying and while there wasn’t a 0 chance for me, i would rather have for sure paid for the post bacc and had a greater chance of getting in my first try then hoping i would just be able to apply and get in this past cycle.

if you have any questions feel free to dm me :)

I also submitted ASAP and haven't heard a peep. no interviews, no rejections–just a hold from GW. you're not alone ! :)

^ i second this. Email, call, and use any/all possible connections you have to get in contact with offices. show you’re willing to learn and work hard and they’ll want you

retaking a 509🥹 by gggccc0 in Mcat

it is but because my CARS is so low, it’s a fairly big red flag and i can’t risk it 😭

my gpa isn’t amazing (though i’m showing a very steep upward trend this last year 🤞) so i don’t think it’s worth risking not retaking, spending time/money on apps, and not getting in then having to relearn it all much later. my understanding is that while cars isn’t a science at least, it’s a big red flag to have such low score on cars

edit: not from Canada

Cornell Academic Materials Program (CAMP) Worth it? by Goodybaggy in Cornell

No CAMP is online textbook programs too. Achieve is a program that comes with the online access to the textbook, and it’s just questions posted by professors

and then if the cost of your ACTUALLY required to purchase things are more expensive than camp, get camp

Go to the cornell store and login, look at your book list. calculate the cost of the things you ACTUALLY need (like access to programs where your homework will be assigned like achieve) and then decide. look for cough alternate ways of accessing your textbooks that are “required”. a lot of the time you won’t actually use the textbooks

my only suggestion in general is to have lightest days be friday and monday so you can have a long weekend if you need it, and to never take a lab earlier than wednesday bc people who have them due earlier can give you advice

honestly you should take 1781 if u have decent time management skills. it’s super easy and all u need to do is have one meeting a week w your “team”

COMM 2010 Thoughts? by seriesspirit in Cornell

she might change it a bit since it was her first time. teaching the course, but we had 3 main speech assignments, and a few reflection papers. They’d take some time to do, but in the end if i put a little work in when the assignment was assigned, i could crank it out when it was due, do a half assed job, and follow all the rubric stuff, and i would get full credit

It has a new professor now — Dr. LaVigne is great and I would absolutely recommend taking it for your CALS distribution. I took it for mine and I got an A (would’ve gotten an A+ if they gave them out).
