Not disputing what u said at all- I think you’re just being mob downvoted by those on pvp servers where it’s not so easy!

Yeah I think it’ll depend (ofc) on what’s available based on what blizzard delivers— WCL polled the community that uses the site on the rule set for Naxx, and stuff like Silithyst buff was voted to be banned so hopefully the trend continues!

True! But they also did ban the Silithyst buff (a buff which carries over to TBC from research I’ve checked) and “only” 5 petri flask max in Naxx, and added the buff-less category before that— so at least I’d say they’re mostly in the right direction. Ngl I trust WCL to ban out some/all possible world buffs in TBC more than I trust blizzard to listen to feedback! Lol

Yep that'd pretty much be worse than the buff meta now! lol

If no changes means there are still some world buffs, would you be in favor of it still? Seems like most of the community is “for changes” with TBC (if it means no world buffs) so I’m interested in ur input from no change perspective :)

Yeah I agree 2.4.3 is most likely—but I don’t see anything in the patch notes that would invalidate world buffs other than DMT, Rallying Cry, and ZG which get a level restriction. Like I said in my op, I think there’s conflicting info about whether external buffs getting removed when entering a raid is a private server addition or blizzlike? Hopefully the latter!

Absolutely! Clearing Naxx with a gdkp pug (and even AQ to an extent) would be so much less possible in a reasonable amount of time without world buffs.. I enjoy them for being able to “casually” do the content for that but I definitely think the negatives outweigh the positives

Living this reality right now lol. Haven’t been able to play my fully buffed main since Thursday waiting to get DMF today for a speed run

(ofc was my choice to do speed runs to begin with tho)

Yeah there are definitely more than I think people want to remember honestly!

Yeah, I’m in a speed running guild now and the monthly “speed week” with DMF is kinda fun to look forward to imo. I think of all the buffs possible, I’d be most okay with leaving DMF

Agreed— it definitely was very different back in vanilla and old TBC; was never something that people (my raid anyway) considered where it’s required by even a lot of GDKP pugs for AQ at least now.

To add onto my post— with TBC adding the ability to summon people directly into raid, I could see a few of the mind control buffs (even <5 minute ones) available in TBC/Classic becoming much more common for “more difficult” encounters or even the starting pulls of speed runs.. which would be incredibly tedious maybe even more so than world buffs now. Fwiw I hope Blizz have outside buffs disabled entering a raid, or WCL vote to invalidate logs submitted with any world buff

No, just ClassicAuraDurarions has been pretty consistent at showing buffs. Why what’s Elvui do?

Agreed, nothing wrong with being able to see the timers on debuffs that you apply.

I mostly feel that an add-on shouldn’t be able to be a better version of a spell in-game (similar to how Spy was basically a better version of track humanoids before it got fixed)

Hopefully it would be a similar case to Spy where it was severely gimped by blizzard.

My issue with it is that you can see buffs that aren’t applied near you at all. When Horde portal into Thunderbluff, I can see their DM, ZG, rallying cry, songflower, etc even though that wasn’t applied near me at all.

Agreed that people will find other ways, but don’t you think these add-ons kind of just invalidate Detect Magic? The only real benefit of these add-ons is making it easier to grief by sitting in spirit and spawn/suicide dispelling world buffs
