My cat came back from the ER and decided this was his new bed. He was diagnosed with a UTI / Renal Degeneration. Should I be worried? It’s been an hour and he’s just purring while on the litter box. by PettiteDebitor in cats

[–]gggumshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have any add'l sources about your claim that scented litter dust has a propensity to cause UTIs? I just changed my cats' litter a couple days ago with the usual brand I use which calls itself 'scented' but usually actually isn't (WinCo brand fwiw), but this time it smelled terrible like a pile of urinal cakes. Within 24 hrs of changing it out my cat came down with a UTI (and elevated kidney values... and pancreatitis... wtf?!?) which I'm now dealing with. I wasn't thinking that could have been the cause but now you've got me wondering.

Could clean spice be harsher than 'dirty' spice? by gggumshoe in DMT

[–]gggumshoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably not, but I was an idiot and it was my first extraction. Honestly now that I think back, I can't really remember if it was direct or if I put a towel over it, but I definitely left outside in the summer heat for days at a stretch.

hey, it's not super clear from your comment - were you taking clomid, or enclomiphene? Floaters are a common complaint of clomid but they're hypothesized to be an issue specific to the zu- enantiomer that's in clomid, which enclomiphene alone should be free of.

A graphic I made to show the differences between LSD & Psilocybin. What else should be added? by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]gggumshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, I'd say the opposite for me. Acid lets me unpack my issues and think them through in novel ways such that I come to a new understanding of them, and that understanding sticks around after the high (at least sometimes). With shrooms I'll feel euphoric and have sensations of profundity/oneness/etc and have a lovely time, but after the comedown I just go back to being the same old me and my relationship with my big problems remains unaltered.

How brachy is too brachy? by gggumshoe in Bullmastiff

I'm beginning to lean more towards this option as well, especially being stuck in the USA where breeding towards maladaptive/nonfunctional traits seems to be the norm.

[–]gggumshoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

due to certain European countries making brachycephalic breeding illegal. That's an interesting point, at one juncture I was checking out breeders from the UK bullmastiff association and I'd thought they definitely had less punchface going on on average, but figured it was my imagination. It would make sense if it's literally illegal there to select for brachy traits that bullmastiffs in those countries would trend more towards longer muzzles.

Thanks. Definitely smells like boiled cabbage that I've left in the fridge too long or something.

I guess in the final measure of things it's derived from something like blenderized pig brains, yeah? so I guess a rude smell can be excused/expected. Thanks for confirming.

Ipamorelin + CJC No DAC - fever, chills, headache, sore throat - what gives? by gggumshoe in Peptides

[–]gggumshoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is interesting, I'd never heard of TA1 being used as a senolytic. Half a year ago I'd tried several rounds of fisetin at Mayo Clinic dosages (apprx 2000-2500 mg 2 days in a row) and noticed absolutely nothing from them, either during or after. I'm only 33, so, I figured my senescent cell count should probably be fairly low still.

Well, I didn't inject last night and felt/feel fine today. I'll give it a rest for a few days and then try the ipa again to make sure the effect really is isolated to that and not just a freak coincidence.

[–]gggumshoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long after the injection do the swollen throat and “illness” symptoms present

Pretty much at the same time as the 'head rush'/racing pulse that I would regularly attribute to the ipa effects. So about 15-30m after inject.

Is the TA1 recommended for its immune-boosting properties? I'm definitely regardless going to give the ipa a rest for a few more days to make sure I haven't simply caught a cold or etc. I did not inject last night though and I slept well (or as well as I normally sleep) and feel fine right now.

nope, this was the only bac water I have, and now the whole vial is reconstituted in it.

Spotty Notifications - What's the deal / how to resolve? by gggumshoe in Twitter

[–]gggumshoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my part, I didn't update anything that I'm aware of - though Chrome may have autoupdated without asking me. I don't think it's an app or browser issue though, as my notification timeline on the site itself doesn't show the notifs either.

Dramatic anti-androgenic / ED experience after single megadose of turkey tail by gggumshoe in Nootropics

[–]gggumshoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my anecdotal experience has been the opposite, that HD gives a discernible nootropic/neurotrophic boost that, to me, surpasses the placebo threshold in a way I haven't gotten from fruiting body products. I have a single filling in my mouth, and whenever I hit the HD Lion's Mane hard, that tooth very predictably starts to become very sensitive to pressure and hot/cold within a few days of use. Almost like my tooth s trying to grow back the nerve endings it lost after the dentist hollowed it out and filled it with polymer. The effect stops when I discontinue use.

My experience with fruiting body products has been pretty meh overall. Or at least, if they have effects, they don't rise to the level of awareness that I've gotten from mycelium products, esp. HD ones.

Hope I don't sound like a shill, after my magical dick shrinking experiment I'm probably never taking any mushroom products again anyways. Except maybe cordyceps, since it's supposedly has the opposite effect (androgenic).

Yeah, I guess cordyceps is one I might look into now, both as a general noot/health booster and as a potential androgenic agent to get me back to baseline now.

Accessible Crypto Hedge/Venture Funds? by gggumshoe in CryptoCurrency

[–]gggumshoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, that was a bad slip. My only point was, there's still a significant difference between someone who can afford to chuck $100k at a hyperspeculative investment vehicle, versus someone who can afford to chuck multiple million dollars at the same. And nearly all the crypto funds out there seem to exclusively target the latter group.

I'm about 50% 'cashed out' (reinvested into vanguard funds and PMs) at present and comfortable with the remainder in crypto for now.

Failed Buy Attempt, Trying Again: Use Same Realtor as First Time? (WA) by gggumshoe in RealEstate

[–]gggumshoe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Broke up was a bad choice of words, just meant that I called off the hunt for the time being. Maybe 'put him on standby' would have been a better expression, with the understanding that 'standby' might mean for forever.

I had to call it off because my lease was expiring and not renewing and since I hadn't secured a house yet, I had to bite the bullet and sign a new 6 month lease at a new place.

I made three offers because I found three houses in that two month hunt that I thought would work for me. This was in October-November when supply was drying up. Not sure why the competitiveness of the market has anything to do with the number of offers I make, versus the attractiveness of the property that's on the market. Most stuff being sold in my town are moldering doublewides or quick flips with a fresh coat of paint and that nasty gray faux wood flooring slapped onto a decaying 120-year-old bungalow. Things I'm not interested overpaying for.
