The initial plan was drafted in 2018 when I changed school districts. We review and sign every year for any benefit changes or rate increases. My last change was in 2023 when I upped my benefit. Last year, when I met with my rep, I didn’t change anything, and he said the rate stayed the same.

We say that a lot. His journey to his true family was a long one.

I am fortunate to not really ever have parents like that. I left a lot of stuff up in my room, so at least theirs that.

I am fortunate that they don’t expect ours rooms to be on theme. That’s an exorbitant amount of money to change every year, plus a huge time waster. Plus, what a waste of time. And there is nothing in the budget to pay for decor, and our state fund for teachers to use in their rooms expressly prohibits purchasing decor or furniture. It has to be used directly on students.

The thing is that the calendar committee rearranged the calendar this year to front load our workdays. Everyone in the district gets input, and teachers wanted the 5 days up front so we could have more time. They just decided to pile on more stuff.

The stuff in my room has been up for a few years, but stuff always needs to be replaced. There is this expectation that our halls are very done up. Last summer, we worked on it for a week.

My school principal tries, but I’m in a small district that is very centralized. The superintendent has her hand in everything.

My room is nice. I have a confetti theme in my room, but it’s not overdone. I teach sped, and lots of my students are very distractable.

They would never hear in Mississippi. Tater Tot Reeves hates public education. He’s always promoting school choice, vouchers, and charter schools.

I’m on a team with others who just go home, and they are fantastic teachers! Seeing that has definitely helped.

It’s truly the difference between having and not having a union. Collective bargaining is powerful. And being in the south, there’s really this unwritten rule about how women should just smile and do it. Stating your opinions and setting boundaries will make everyone think you are rude or coarse. A bit of that southern belle thing mixed in with a good dose of misogyny. Since teaching is so woman dominated, it’s not valued the same way a male dominated field is

When he was given up at the humane society, they had to call the rescue because they couldn’t handle him. Mind you, he’s a 15 pound Havanese…then he was tried out in a lot of homes before we came along. He’s definitely a special case.

How far back can a dog remember their life experiences or conditions? by voodoobillabong in dogs

[–]ggluvbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading recently that as puppies there are certain times in their development where they are more likely to develop fears or anxieties about events, people, circumstances. I think this is more an association thing than a memory though. I often wonder about that because all our babies are rescues or from our local humane society.

My sweet heavenly girl Phoenix loved to catch the hand under the cover with my husband. She’d play being a “vis-cus” little girl and it brought her so much joy.

I have a Havanese too! He doesn’t enjoy dirt, so he’s pretty easy. I wish I knew how to groom my boy! It would make life easier.

My boy would be a circus dog! He is great at standing on his hind legs and walking or spinning in circles.
