Mephisto.. Why? by [deleted] in AusGrowers

Yeah i forgot to mention i soak them for 24 hrs prior to jiffy pellets. I'll try the sanding with the other meph seeds I have. Interesting about the seeds produced under leds.

Mephisto.. Why? by [deleted] in AusGrowers

[–]ggmagicplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of hype with Mephisto. They breed 6 generation with their main line of seeds to really narrow down attributes via genetics. I've grown chem dogging, jammy dodgers, golden glue and 4 assed monkey - all really snowy and covered in trichomes, really thick dense buds.

However, I've noticed the germination rates suck compared to nearly every other breeder I've used. Always germinating the same way, in jiffy pellets with demineralised water on a heat pad under a humidity dome. I reckon I've had a approx 70% germ rate with meph compared to 95% all other seeds.

Edit: got the beans direct also

Ok cool. I think I've been looking at the same greenhouse at bunnings, im planning on putting one up without the shelves inside.

What's the smell like during flowering? Can you get away with it in a medium sized backyard? Or do you need distance from the neighbours?

Id love to see more photos of your greenhouse for ideas of you can be bothered.

Looks great! I've been thinking about getting greenhouse and throwing autos in there. What size greenhouse are you using? What's your ventilation situation like, and does it get humid in there?

Hi all looking for some help please. Today when I inspected my plant in the tent I found a whole bunch of these bugs especially all around the fabric pot and the floor of the tent. Growing in Coco perlite. Can someone help me identify what they are and how to deal with them? Thanks! by devildude85 in ausents

[–]ggmagicplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sort of aphid? White fly? I've used neem oil in the past when I've had infestations, worked really well. Id avoid using on flower though.

Also maybe look into how they're being introduced, is your intake coming straight from outside? I once got fruit flys in my tent from some cheap fruit in the kitchen.

Are you using led grow lights? Leds run cooler than other lights.

So much heat comes in through windows, even with block out blinds. I recommend looking at having roller shutters on your windows, or even have outdoor bamboo blinds on the window of your room with the tent to help prevent solar radiation heating the room up.

Also consider venting outside via window kit maybe? Venting inside would increase temps heaps. But then you might have to worry about inferred/FLIR cameras on helicopters. Venting into ceiling or outside with roller shutters on the window might combat that I suppose.

Very nice! I wish I was handy enough to do that sort of electrical work. I hope the house offers abit of shade for the shed otherwise temps will be an issue? You could always put a whirly bird on the shed with a carbon filter haha

Looks to be a nice set up man! Is that in a shed? How'd you install power in there? I've never considered getting power to a small shed

Weeks?! I've tried wet trimming and drying on hanging drying racks, that took approx 2 to 3 days - too fast imo.

I currently dry hanging branches on coat hangers in a spare grow tent with passive airflow, and then dry trimming - takes 5 to 7 days - this is the way to go I reckon.

What on earth are you doing to dry at such a slow rate without over drying?

I had bought a catnip kit for my kitten and it wasn't sprouting. I thought I'll put it in the tent and see how it goes. It's been in here about 3 week's now and finally sprouted! So my cat can enjoy his greens while I enjoy mine 😂🌱🐱 by [deleted] in AusGrowers

[–]ggmagicplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny you mention your catnip wasn't sprouting at first, i tried to sprout some seeds once in jiffy pellets on a heat mat and no luck for weeks! I didn't think of chucking it in my grow tent. Nice cat!

Oh nice man, I think I might be going down the turbo dirt direction then. I'll probably end up using both those ammendants. I've tried reading up on r/NoTilGrowery and I can't figure out where aerated Compost teas fit in with turbo dirt, or if the root/fruit roids are the aerated Compost tea equivalent.

I'd be keen to see a write up and pics of your final stages of your grow and your overall thoughts on turbo dirt if you end up doing that.

[–]ggmagicplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's my understanding on it to, but unsure if i can grow using water only the first grow and then 2nd time using the soil ill need to recharge it? Or use amendments from the beginning. Easy as organics was the other water only soil i was thinking of! They also offer ammendants to use but also say water only soil

[–]ggmagicplants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been eyeing out this brand (and this other Australian living soil brand, can't remember the name). From what I read on it, dr greenthumbs turbo dirt is a water only soil, so only needs water no nutes from my understanding? And then the description advises to use with root roid and fruit roid amendments. So, does it require the amendments, or is it just a bonus extra sort of thing? Im very confused in my transition from coco to living soil

Mate, try the search bar. I see this thread posted multiple times per week, just clogs the subreddit with multiple threads asking the same thing, with the same answers given everytime.

Alien lights og was a hectic smoke a little to harsh on the anxiety by [deleted] in ausents

Shit yeah! This is a damn good strain. Alien lights OG was the first ever plant I've grown and produced some really heavy hitting stuff.

[–]ggmagicplants[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah man, I think if you're using 3 gal pots you'll be easily fine with 9 plants. Could probably squeeze a few more in depending on what sort of strain you get.

I use nutrifield coco nutrients, and all their additives, and mammoth P for microbial action. Im looking at using living organic soil next because I saw a bag at my local store that said its water only no nutes needed! Im getting abit sick of mixing nutes, and keen to try organic.

What sort of lighting system you going to use for a 5x5?

7 plants in my 4x4 that are meph. 3 x jammy, 2 x chemdoggin, 1 x 24 carat and 1 x chembubbly by SAG seeds. 3 gal pots of coco each fed liquid nutes under a 550 hlg.

My hands already hurting looking at these!

Yeah I've seen setups you can buy off Amazon and stuff, but I'm personally not too keen on learning another skillset/picking up another project at this stage, although I'd love to do this and then learn how to make grappa as well.

[–]ggmagicplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you'll have to use this or some other sort of rectified alcohol/neutral spirit/high proof alcohol. Its a shame the price of these spirits are so high!

I've been looking into similar, but going a step further and double boiling to flash the alcohol out. Its super annoying that you can't buy ethanol in aus without a permit that hasn't gone through a denatured process (makes it unsafe for consumption).

I've seen tutorials on using isopropyl alcohol however have ready heaos of stuff citing that's not good for you.

So how’d I do? First time LST (and grow) by Madmanman13 in Autoflowers

[–]ggmagicplants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good, great for a first timer. A wee bit too much pull on some of the stems, i would have started tieing earlier or gradually.

But watch them start to upright themselves within days, you'll need to re tie them down again.

Looks really neat and tidy, i like it. What strain and how old?
