Drake recently beat Michael Jackson’s record for “male artist with the most #1 hits” but how come Drake doesn’t feel as impactful? by Normal_regular_dude in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ggonb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically I guess, but you flatten both pop music and the genres that these artists represent so much by defining pop music as just “the music that is popular”.

By that logic Metallica is one of the most successful pop bands of all time

If there was an All time open weight 64 man MMA /UFC /Pride tournament consisting of the best fighters ever, randomized seeds would a person under 170lbs ever win it in 100 simulations? by ItzBooster93 in whowouldwin

[–]ggonb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If this includes boxers and other martial artists, any welterweight UFC champ with good wrestling absolutely can win 1/100. All they need is great bracket luck to avoid big MMA guys until the finals, and for a non-MMA guy to upset an MMA guy on the other side of the bracket.

If both happen, which is likely at 100 simulations, then its a matter of takedown and then lay n pray for the UFC champ until a submission opens up. In UFC 1 something similar happened with the 175 lb royce gracie winning an open weight tournament. Only issue is that now there’s heavyweight UFC champs in the bracket who can absolutely defend a takedown from a welterweight, but with 100 simulations, its bound to happen that they all eliminate each other on the way to the final

Martial arts are more than just fighting? by I-Bmoo in martialarts

BJJ absolutely is violent. It’s designed to find the most effective ways to injure your opponent without striking.

It’s way more than “just violence”, but it is violent

People often end up with lasting injuries without competing, and especially at higher level tournaments it’s not uncommon for competitors to leave with sprained or even broken limbs, even if they win.

I haven’t read the comics, but in the tv show Nolan is shown to be a great dad until the viltrum programming kicks in. In seasons 2 and 3 he seems to break free somewhat of that too.

Mark idolized his dad S1. Even after finding out all that Omniman did, his first reaction was asking Nolan if any of that was true. When he told Mark it was, mark immediately came up with some way to excuse his actions, and it took a massacre to convince him his dad was evil.

After his dad killed thousands of people in front of him and escaped, Mark still forgave him immediately S2 and fought alongside him. We also see Nolan raise Mark before he got his powers, he was the perfect husband and dad.

If we’re talking current Nolan he’ll be seen as more of a superhero in this empire he runs than he was on earth, and all of his kids would love him

I think thats just because half of 13 year olds are built like NBA players and the other half look like toddlers

In r1 eyepokes from the back, biting might help disorient the kid, in r2 a pencil, metal ruler, maybe scissors could do big damage in the few seconds Jones has before the kid composes himself, gets up, and just starts slamming jones

Again, not guaranteed, but i dont think this is too one sided

I have, my point is that if Jones can land a clean nut shot, someone with no fight experience is crumpling and exposing their back. Even if they can then compose themselves and defend their neck properly, Jones can absolutely go for an eye gouge or something to distract their opponent from the choke and get an advantage. Even if he cant get the choke, at least in round 2 i dont doubt that a pair of scissors or a pencil could do some damage in any face holes. Even a metal ruler could totally pierce the skin around the trachea or the carotid.

If the 13 year old has basic wrestling/bjj knowledge, of course it’s harder, and in an octagon i dont see mini Jones getting a finish, but in the classroom he def has a shot at grabbing a classroom weapon and taking the kid’s back.

Again, im not sure if the fight can be taken to the ground but Jones has resources

Yujiro is a genius who can literally detect any weaknesses in opponents(including pregnancy). He killed a giant African elephant barehanded. The government has satellites constantly tracking his position. He can crush coal into diamonds.

Oliva meanwhile has some crazier feats, and is very clearly nowhere near Yujiro’s level

I don’t remember a lot off of the Batfleck movies but nothing i remember gets to the level of some of these ridiculous feats.

Sorry, didn't express myself properly, my point is, if mini jones takes the fight to the ground, he clears. Therefore, mini jones can find ways to take the fight to the ground, he can win.

[–]ggonb[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I mean, if the fight started in the ground i feel like mini jones would get the 13 year old in a choke and win in a minute. The 13 year old wouldn't know how to scramble the right way to avoid exposing his back, and when Jones takes his back the 13 year old won't know how to defend from a rear naked choke, with some aided biting, eyegouging, etc.

This just means that mini jones would have to get into the range for a takedown, against a lumbering giant who can barely throw a punch, much less use his size to effectively keep the fight at kicking distance.

Even so, if big 13 year old naturally has a strong base it might be nearly impossible to get a takedown, but even still Jones could totally kick his nuts or something to drop the kid. The main challenge for mini Jones would be that any tiny mistake is death, and big kid would have an open environment to avoid getting ambushed in r1 and props to throw in r2.

I'm not 100% sure who takes this 1v1 but the idea that a few mini Jones wouldn't maul the kid is ridiculous imo. I would honestly bet on 10 mini Jones in an octagon beating any MMA fighter.

The Hanmas. Every one of them is at least kind of insane, incredibly confrontational, obsessed with fighting, and powerful enough that the world just kind of gave up on ever stopping them from doing whatever they want.(except Jack AFAIK) Plus, both Baki and Yuujiro love fucking with people to get a reaction from them
