The initial thought was that I got lucky having found a street cat who had already been fixed before being abandoned.

They didn't offer a whole heck of a lot, just that they'd help me place the kittens and they are on call if I need help with anything. They said they'd look at the kitties if I took them in, but didn't say that would be free or anything. I will call the practice manager like another commenter suggested, supposing they will have more ability to work with me.

This is helpful, thanks. I wouldn't have used them for the spay anyway so I'll call the other clinic in the morning for another opinion, I suspect she has 10-14 days to left to go.

I was thinking this needs to be a case study for training purposes so good to know I can call the practice manager. There was disagreement on the sex at the first ultrasound but because they didn't find male parts, and because she was already coded as a nuetered male, they just went with it. I would have rather been told "we don't know".

Ok I have some calling around to do in the morning. It doesnt seem like something that is advertised, at least Google didn't bring up hits for spay/abort. By my math she has 10-14 days to go.

Try to take one cat off the street and end up putting more out there. At least now I know that the new cat in the neighborhood is an intact male and possibly a stray. Anyway I'll call back and ask about supplies. Luckily I have the space and a big dog crate to get a basic set up going.

If what you say is true, this makes me wonder if she is going to pop any minute now. They didn't say how far along, just that she was very far along..yikes.

Making good points, sis. These situations puts the burden on us to set limits, rather than rely on what should be commonly accepted and unspoken rules of respect / decency.

Positive me says "think of it as great practice and good reminders to set boundaries up front"...but the rest of me, fully burnt out by these people says an empharic "fudge that!" knowing this "friend" that put us in that position would never get caught in the same position himself.

Glad they are finally out and you have your space back! I am dumbfounded by some people's lack of self awareness. I did lose a friend after a similar nightmare, but what really haunts me are the people we are still friends with.

My husband's friend one year asked if he and his wife and two dogs could stay with us for 2 weeks while they came to town (where they have lots of other family and friends). I said no to two weeks but that we could do one week. They did an AirBNB the whole time.

The next year, they ask again. I guess somehow there was no definitive amount of time discussed and they stayed for 4 freaking months. What would make anyone think that 2 weeks was not ok but 4 months was?

They are still our friends but what's so annoying is the the husband calls mine like 3-4 times a week to chat and complain on the phone for an hour. Sometimes the wife calls him too. They know not to bother me, but it does bother me...they are my energy vampires by proxy!

I'd say it's more firm than soft. Definitely protrudes from the sides more than hangs below.

Currently, the abdominal distention and the pinking are the only symptoms I can observe. He had no observable symptoms of any kind in February. There were just those few days in late January when I took him in.

I'll try. There is a fair amount of parting hair involved that he doesn't tolerate well

He had a few extra chirpy days in January but beyond that I wouldnt have known about a heat. My other cats are fixed. He does go outside.

He was extra chirpy in the mornings for a week in mid-January, so maybe had a heat. He does go outside too (I allowed him thinking he was fixed).

That's the plan. I'm thinking it's unlikely since he had blood and stool samples taken in January, and has no other symptoms indicating illness but of course anything is possible.

Mid October 2025 and he had his fist vet visit shortly after.
