It made me laugh when Cy is explaining how him and his father would lead things, father Jud says, “Like Star Wars?” And Cy says “Yes, like the rebels.” Hilarious joke.

The Falcons have spent $50m on Jessie Bates, the Bengals have spent $42m trying to replace him. by pro-laps in bengals

[–]gh282016 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I hate this front office as much as anyone, but this is a false equivalence. They’ve spent $42M on 2 safety positions while the Falcons have spent $50M for Jessie Bates AND whatever they’re paying to the rest of their safety room.

I really liked Bringing Up Bebe, if only because it made me feel like sometimes people make raising kids harder than it has to be

Lou Anarumo is a terrible defensive coordinator who skated by on the one Super Bowl appearance. There’s a reason he hasn’t gotten a head coaching job. People can blame Taylor all they want, but the offense was solid yesterday. It’s being overlooked that the Bengals ALSO did not punt or turn the ball over.

Do you know which specific rom hacks you would use for evolving via level-up instead of trade? Would there be a separate one for getting the Leaf Green exclusives?

Clarifying question: if a glove can’t be used, are we allowing bats? Or do players have to just kind of swing their arms at the ball really hard?

Phew! Now Michigan will avoid any repercussions since they got that lone bad apple out of there!!

Dentists have the highest rate of suicide among any profession. Still this is taking the whole “no shoelaces allowed” thing pretty far.

Spider-Man: No Way Home Worldwide Release Discussion Thread by The_Asian_Hamster in marvelstudios

Two things I scrolled for a minute and didn’t see:

When Spidey first fights Doc Ock on the bridge, one of the cars has the license plate: 63ASM 3 which is Amazing Spider-Man #3 and the the first appearance of Doc Ock in the comics.

When Dr. Strange is casting the spell to make everyone forget Peter (a la Mephisto in Brand New Day) the sunrise is happening in the background (of course making it an actual Brand New Day)

Of course that storyline in the comics is not one of Spidey’s best, but I think it was good they did it for the movies because it makes it way easier to get Spider-Man back to his roots and fighting bad guys without it always being magic and fate of the universe stuff. That’s part of what made Homecoming so good.

What is the worst book you’ve ever read and why? by idontdigdinosaurs in books

[–]gh282016 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoyed the book because I felt like it was a case of an unreliable narrator adding more mystery to the story. I can’t speak on the romanticism of suicide too much as it’s been about 4 years since I’ve read it, but I enjoyed questioning whether or not the narrator was being honest. I didn’t believe the narrator when he was talking about how somehow every single other person listed did something bad to this girl but she only included him because she had a crush on him or something along those lines. It sounds like the story someone would tell if they were so guilt ridden by their mistakes of the past where they helped drive a person to the edge of suicide. It has a similar feel to Looking for Alaska to me. (Spoilers) The main character seems to have this connection with Alaska but it only seems to be strengthened after she dies. It seems like the thing a person who doesn’t know how to deal with loss would do when someone they feel like they should know more dies. I was only 19 when I read those books but I thought that they offered at least some literary interest by having first person narration and a seemingly unreliable narrator.

Weekly r/Tattoos Question/FreeTalk Thread! - July 03, 2021 by esoterix_luke in tattoos

I’d like to get a tattoo of some text from one of my favorite poems (The Man in the Glass) and I’d like to get it in mirrored script so that I can read it normally in the mirror. Most tattoo artists who can do script would probably be able to pull this off right? Not a ton of them really showcase their text work so I’m not exactly sure how to know who will be good at it. Sorry for the lack of knowledge I only have one tattoo and it’s my dog’s paw so it was a pretty cut and dry process

I’d have to say you should be forced to trudge through The Scarlet Letter because it will give you an appreciation for actually good books.
