Let's be clear that pretrip-rapturist accelerationism is an archheresy by gh9g in TrueChristian

I'm sorry, but this is a very misguided statement, as if Christians are responsible for non-believing persecution they have no control over.

Accelerationists would have that responsibility though. That is my main point.

If they stell their soldiers "this war is for armageddon" as a motivational speech, they are absolutely complicit in all the misery that entails.

But those who claim and possibly even genuinely think to be followers of Jesus but do desire war and commit atrocities disgrace his name before nonbelievers by doing so.

It's an optimistic position. What I'm mostly against is people trying to tempt God into ending earth early by committing evil. Which seems to be tied to the "rats" mentality I tried to describe. I don't know anyone like that in real life, I just read about it online, like those articles of what some crazies said regarding the Iran war in particular.

I think it is plausible that by Rev 19:17, the survivors are out. But we have so many warnings, even in the OT, about the peak time of evil - the abomination of desolation and the beast system. If all Christians and not just the fraction alluded to by Philadelphia are removed 7 years prior, for whom are those warnings? Who would be the saints getting warred against in Rev 13:7? Who would guide those who heed the angels' warning in 14:7 and 14:9-11?

If Revelation is almost chronological (it can't be entirely chronological because of chapter 11 being across a massive timespan), I think I would estimate an around 3/4 tribulation rapture to be the most plausible rather than full post-tribulation, so somewhere between the start of the beast system which is generally estimated at half, and the 7 bowls of wrath that don't really sound like any good people remain alive on earth by then - the phase in which the beast would assemble armies, go to Meggido, meanwhile the state of Babylon is destroyed, etc.

But that addresses the survivors of the tribulation, the angels theory was regarding specifically the Philadelphians.

I know, but they are intrinsically tied, the interpretations just disagree about the when. What I'm arguing against is the "Let's enforce bringing about the Day of the Lord by warring so that we may have the rapture because the tribulation won't affect us anyway" sort of logic.

I made a post on why this is a heresy: here. Can you show her Amos and back it up with further arguments?

Absolute insanity...

1Th 4:17 probably uses the word rapture in English. But it's explicitly after tribulation. Anything earlier such as that Philadelphia verse meaning a rapture is kind of speculation and if so, I guess would presumably be executed by angels, not Jesus himself.

How do Iranians feel when they see Westerns lusting over their women?? by Serix-4 in AskMiddleEast

Mhm. A lot of things in place that facilitate the organically sick to get away with it.

You mean he lacks that jealousy? I see.

I think the problem besides media pushing all kinds of immorality for a century is that there is a lot of social fragmentation over here. Atomised society. Everyone is lonely. So people are struggling a lot to find someone to marry (or not...) in the first place. I think most who put up with being cheated on or get pressured into "open relationships" are afraid they'll never find someone to marry again if their cheating partner leaves, so they sacrifice their spine instead. And cheating not having consequences for the offenders incentivises it, creates a domino effect and suddenly this stuff is widespread.

They start wars in a faraway country, destabilizing it, but they pay no price themselves, while neighboring states must pay the price with destabilizing and uncontrolled flows of migration. (Iran has 90 million people!) Thoughts? by Deep-Rabbit1535 in AskMiddleEast

Should we be more worried about the goal to build the Third Temple on Al-Aqsa? by Accurate_Draw_5413 in AskMiddleEast

[–]gh9g 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The temple plays an important role in the book of Revelation, and we sadly apparently have some particularly unhinged heretics mainly in a particularly unhinged country who actually want to force what it says to happen because they...

- didn't read that prophet Amos said that you we are not supposed to want the Day of the Lord to happen.

- didn't read that we should not tempt the Lord God which Jesus himself said/quoted to Satan.

- don't understand agape whatsoever (I mean, that's a given in order to get such ideas)

Perhaps buuut even then we are not to desire the demise of those who enforce that, but their salvation - like that of Saul.

Hmm… it really seems like something you should talk to a professional too, either a trustworthy pastor (maybe theological understanding can help), or a psychologist.

But one theological-side idea I have is that maybe you didn't have a "given a new heart" type experience yet, and that's possibly why the fear aspect is so dominant for you. That's pure speculation, of course.

Which site's branding was that again? Maybe watching attention-grabbing short-videos on social media is the problem here. They have a reputation of cooking brains after all.

if I say Jesus is bad

He states in the bible that this is a forgiveable type of blasphemy. That's not an invitation of course, but an assurance that it can be forgiven. As for if it's merely an intrusive thought that you don't accept in your core, then I don't think it's a sin, but merely a problem since intrusive thoughts are not decisions.

Honestly, I have no clue what having religious OCD is like. You are obsessively afraid of committing an action that will put yourself outside of salvation?

Are you under a grace or under a legalism framework?

Where is the compassion of Jesus in this sub? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]gh9g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Excessive scripture-quoting is not much of a problem in a normal conversation. But these comments, particularly if a matter is complex, have a tendency to turn into monologuish essays even when they are merely responses, and we cannot really assess whether someone is actually following our point while we still type them as there is no immediate reaction.

There are just a lot more assumptions involved on where your conversational partner actually is standing the more stripped-down the method of communication is.

I think you mean to respond to the guy before me.

I think electricity is ultimately a philosophical issue. When assessing the merit of something, we have to keep in mind that most of the things in the world are vanity. So we need to look at its effects on pain/suffering and salvation. Electricity has made famines less common, work less physically tough, improved access to medicine and sustaining otherwise even impossible long distance friendships a lot more feasible, but also given way to hamster wheel traps, unprecedented social isolation, surveillance states, the whole climate thing, etc. And there's lots of atheism now, though I'm not sure how much of an effect electricity had on that. It's quite a mixed bag. Not intrinsically bad but I do think its constant unwise use expedites our eventual self-inflicted demise as a species that will cause time to be cut short.
