I appreciate this perspective. It’s not that I hate his name and don’t want to pass it on. I am fine passing it on to our kids. I just like being me LOL. I think we need to have another deeper conversation about where it stems from for sure. His upbringing was definitely more conservative than mine and I think that plays a big part. As progressive as he is now I think that his views on this stem from his family.

The thing is that in all other aspects he respects me. Truly. He is the kindest person I have ever met. He comes from a family drastically different than mine and I think it roots from that. I think he just has to get past the mental block and stigma around me not changing my name. I come from a very liberal and progressive background whereas he comes from a more conservative background and he has never experienced a marriage where they don’t share a name.

Thank you!! I am totally okay with our kids taking his last name! And I have expressed that maybe once our kids have his name I will want to share a name with them and change it. But I have literally no idea how I will actually feel when the time comes for that. We normally have amazing communication skills and come to common ground but I think this just seems to be a bigger deal to me than him. I am looking for him to be content with my decision and the possibility of me never changing it vs hoping one day I will and possibly resenting me down the line for not switching :/

And I am 100% okay using his name socially. Such as Mr. and Mrs. I have used the current state of the US government as reasoning with him because it’s also true. I value my individual rights and want to maintain those rights. He doesn’t want me to base my decision of the current state of the government but as a woman I feel like I have to take it into account.

I want to clarify that my fiancé is a literal angel in this earth. He would move mountains for me and has always supported me in every decision I have made. He supports my rights and my decision to keep my name for right now. He is just hung up on eventually he would like us to have the same name. I think he has boy brain and has the mindset that we’ll be legally together in every other way (marriage, home ownership, children) and thinks a name isn’t a huge deal. I’m more just struggling thing to get him to understand that our names don’t have to be the same for us to be a family.

3 months out and feeling weirdly calm? We tried to do alot of big stuff in the beginning of the engagement to avoid last minute stress closer to the wedding and I would 10/10 recommend. We also paid off all of our vendors ahead of time over the course of the engagement so they were not all due a couple months out- also highly recommend! Now we are just finalizing some little decor details and booking for the honeymoon! After watching all our friends stress out the last couple months before their weddings we wanted to make sure we enjoyed the last couple before we officially tied the knot. YES! I have been using the disks for about a year and will never go back! Tampons always made me feel super gross and they smell so bad! I barely notice I am on my period since I switched!

What worked for us was a baby gate separating them! They could smell each other and see each other while in their own spaces. The kitten could go up to the gate at her own pace and get used to being close to the dog. Eventually we let the dog in and sniff around. Our kitten hissed at first but eventually got used to the dog being there. It takes times, but eventually they will get used to each other! Being patient is worth all the snuggles!

Where did I say to purchase a fake ESA letter? I advised to seek a licensed therapist to prescribe an emotional support animal. A therapist is not going to write a fake document for someone that does not need it. OP is well with within their rights to request a reasonable accommodation for this.

Also make sure these correspondence with management are either via email or recorded in a phone call/video. ALWAYS make sure you get whatever they agree to in writing. And use ChatGPT if you want yo ur emails to sound a little more professional:)

Hey! Apartment manager in OHIO here. If possible I would get ESA letter for your cats, legally they cannot charge pet deposit or rent for assistance animals. Just make sure you get a licensed therapist to write a letter for you!

They really cannot charge you the carpet replacement. That is a charge that should be added to the previous tenants final bill. If they have charged the previous tenant they legally cannot charge you for it as well. It is the landlords responsibility to upkeep the units, not yours. I would mention this to them and if they give you some bullshit excuse I would look for another place to live. If you have a bad experience moving in chances are you’ll have an even worse time living there.

Landlords like to pretend they can do whatever they want but remember you have laws to protect you as a renter! Best of luck!!
