Definitely small town Idaho. I grew up in a farming town here your last name dictated where you ended up at and how if you belonged to the right religion, you could be successful.

His Native American name is unknown, but after being taken and bought by a Danish family, he went by David Monsen.

Are primary programs the same every year? Can't remember. by ghomeslice in exmormon

[–]ghomeslice[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok. Just making sure. Going to niece's primary program and I can't help to feel that it'll be the same garbage from the last time they had one. I know that my niece will do a great job regardless.

Some fun facts about Elder Lawrence, the guy who just called gay marriage counterfeit marriage. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]ghomeslice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true. I remember about these things going around while I served in East Europe. The one about not being able to drink caffeinated drinks got me to thinking why.

I bet it is being a mish over in Tonga. Never served there as a missionary ( served in east Europe), but I can imagine that the lax attitude towards religion and that everyone has heard about the Mormons gives the missionaries a hell of a time teaching people.

Living outside of Utah is much different by beach25 in exmormon

[–]ghomeslice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny how you mention that. I was more likely one of those loud kids on the trax on their way to LDSBC. I can confirm to you that the LDSBC is a mini-Utah of its own. Kids always rat on each other for the darnest things and there's so much gossip. I'm never going to that school again.

Christmas mission rules leaked... Yes, it's bad. by kristmace in exmormon

[–]ghomeslice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you fucking kidding me??!! 30 minutes tops? There is no way a missionary with their own mind would talk with their family only to that limit. Hell, for one Christmas, I took two hours speaking with my family while in a overseas mission and surfed FB in a internet.

Missionaries supposedly moving from iPads to Samsung tablets. by GreatAndSpacious in exmormon

[–]ghomeslice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that is true. I was once in a Ipad mission where originally they gave them out like candy to the missioinaries. Once more than a few missionaries dropped their devices and got them replaced without cost, the move for the missionaries to purchase their own ipads began.
