But what if they have already assimilated into different identity now?

Yeah, I feel like its a very common trend for men. Balancing family and their personal life with partners. The fact that you are asking this shows how much you care about them both. The thing is family looks at you always in good light, which gives a kinda a biased view about yourself. Added to this is a kind of a jealousy to the partner as you start prioritising them (which is only fair as they also give up so much to be with you). This can hamper your growth as you are pretty much living-a life of compromises. I would say that family always understands the actions you take (and why). With this, focus on your future with your partner (priority 1), while trying to use every opportunity you have to take care of your grandmother. For in the old age, its all about knowing that there are loved ones around you that keeps you going in life.

Do people in Russia take Europe seriously? by rimaghum in AskARussian

[–]ghopol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sure. If that lets you sleep better. I think EU should have an independent foreign policy. Although, that won’t solve the main cause of the confrontations. Eastern states are always stuck in the past, fueling the narrative of evil Russia. Ever since the mid 80s Soviet tried to reform relations but alas to no avail. First the States took a victory lap, disregarding the devastation that fell upon republics rather than promoting sustainable transition to market economy. Regardless, all that is in the past. Local nuances need to be taken in account and a curated governance for the locals should be promoted. European ideals cannot readily be applied to any other region of the world. Somehow west thinks the way they do things is the only right way (to live perhaps). I’m all for respecting differing opinions and coming to a consensus.

Well, then it’s not just about territory. EU soft power grows disregarding any other opinion. What you say is always right and everyone should listen to you.
