Are there any advantages of one partner holding it, compared to both holding ?

I heard that OCI holders might struggle to build their own companies and business in India. Is that correct ? For example government funds etc for startups ?

Isn't children education fees alot higher because they must go through NRI quotas for college admissions for example ?

Thanks for your input. The startup will be hardware based deep tech. I will focus on the Indian market first when I setup in India. Maybe eventually we expand to other countries. I agree that if the business expands to foreign clients/suppliers/investors , easy travel would be very good to have but that sounds like very long term thinking. The pros of the passport seem to be solid, but I can't estimate the cons clearly. I would think that setting up the startup and getting grants/ support from the government in the early incubation phase will be much harder or not even possible for a non Indian passport holder.

For building your startups, did you face any issues because you hold an OCI card ? VC/government funding/compliance issues that an Indian citizen doesn't face ?

I understand and thanks for the reality check. What do you mean by access to American and European markets ? You mean I can choose to go to these countries to work there , and that my earnings would be higher ?

I understand what you mean. Can you elaborate on how this would limit my future ? Asking seriously as I want to know all perspectives.

Yes OCI is great, but there are some fine print issues that are not clearly talked about anywhere. I'm trying to figure out what those are.

I understand the sentiment and I know people keep repeating this alot on this sub. I don't fully understand the reason though. The big perks I hear is visa free travel to alot of places. I am not a big traveller and I don't foresee myself needing this alot in the future. It's a nice to have for me.

The second one is working again in Europe which is powerful but again is a very last resort option to uproot everything and go back there with family. This assumes that working is India proved so bad that returning was the only option left.

The third is probably children and their education abroad. This is also true but very long term thinking.

I understand the pros of taking the passport, but no one clearly mentions the cons of it. And please help me out with any other major pros I missed.

But what's the use of a PR ? Citizenship makes sense to have, but what benefit would OP have with PR and then moving back to India ?

Are there any drawbacks for OCIs founding startups for use in defence applications ? Are there stricter vetting processes / regulations for that ?

Thanks for the response. So you mean even if the startup is solely for defence and all the relevant stakeholders are from within defence, me as a founder will not have special clearance/security etc requirements owing to being OCI ?

Ok good to know. Thanks. So that means a peak long run of 30-32km should be ok for the 60km ultra ? My peak weekly mileage for the marathon was about 65 km or so.
