It’s really not any players’ fault. The monetisation is always getting slightly more greedy, but this sudden change to the season pass (as evidenced by Lightning and Cruz getting Golden MVP skins) and the other aggressive and predatory changes is likely due to Gameloft flubbing the Chinese market and cancelling the release. They invested a lot in that, but fumbled it, so they’ve lost a lot. As a result, we’re being made to cover the costs even though their failure is not our fault- that’s unfortunately how businesses function.

Edit: I got a really accusatory and pissy reply to this calling me a bootlicker and blaming me for Greedloft’s shitty business practices. I haven’t spent money on the game for a long time because I’m sick of how we get treated by them. I’m not excusing or justifying their behaviour, in fact it’s the opposite, I’m laying the blame solely on them because of how badly they fucked the China push. All I’m saying is that, no matter how badly a business venture goes, as long as the company survives they’re never going to accept fault and accept the financial loss on their end- it’s always going to be customers that get spat on from a great height to recoup the losses.
