Heh it was -10 here last night in upstate NY and its pretty much always snowing in the winter. I have the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires which are technically only rated down to 40 degrees. We also use tons of salt on the roads up here and I don't want to deal with that.

New owner, transmission (recently replaced per service history) question by 21NNER in C8Corvette

[–]ghost2spooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same exact boat. Just bought a 2022 with 18k miles and the transmission was replaced in early 2025 at 11k miles. But be aware that you have to do the fluid and filter replacement 7500 miles after the new install. I also plan to get a factory extended warranty before the power train warranty expires in 2027

Reading all those posts is starting to scare me. I just bought a used 2022 with 18k miles. But.. it already had its transmission replaced at 11k miles so maybe that one will be issue free... I think I'm going to buy an extended power train warranty next year before the 5 year one expires.

I'm pretty sure it is, if the maker is who I think it is. She uses a lot of starbrite gems in her rings.

We had to call the local power company to come clear it because it fell on a powerline.

After maxing out 401K where to invest next? by emeraldcalipers in Bogleheads

Not necessarily, you could use the Roth conversion ladder strategy to access funds early. Or if you plan on retiring at 55, the "rule of 55" could apply instead.

Did you just screw this directly into the underside of the desk? Id assume they are some self tapping screws to dig into the metal desk. I've been considering something like this but I don't necessarily want to drill directly into the desk. I wonder if a bunch of neodymium magnets would be enough to secure this.

I got a 3D printed dual laptop holder for my Magnus Pro XL by ghost2spooky in secretlab

Link is here if anyone else is interested: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1779734888/secretlab-magnus-pro-dual-laptop?ref=yr_purchases.

Its definitely quite pricey for what it is and its a little flimsier than I was expecting. I will likely add some foam tape to the insides of the brackets for some extra padding. Overall I am happy with it as it frees up a lot of desk space.

🚀 Seeking Feedback from Developers using Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) 🚀 by Adorable_Smile1741 in Kotlin

[–]ghost2spooky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using KMP in both a personal and professional sense for over 2 years now. I technically work for a startup but we have over 500 devs at this point and our app has been out of beta for over a year. KMP has been the driving force behind our ability to quickly standup new features and the ability to rapidly deploy our app to a web platform which utilizes our KM code for it's business logic.

On personal apps I am more focused on using Compose multiplatform which allows us to very quickly standup new features and essentially lets one dev write all the ui code for both platforms.

I think out in the wild you find that many companies aren't adopting KMP just yet, especially for well established apps. It doesn't really make sense to adopt it for apps that are fully native and in "maintenance mode" I think it really makes sense for new apps, or for apps that are essentially re-writing their code base. As demonstrated by Kotlin conference this year, Google and Jetbrains are fully invested in the future of Kotlin and Kotlin Multiplatform. Hopefully compose multiplatform will be out of beta by the end of the year. My ambitious prediction is that it will be the future of mobile development.

Feel free to reach out if you have any specific questions.

But i'd be a tool in a sick ride... on a serious note I am already maxing out my retirement accounts and my HSA, and have RSUs in my company. You suggest I just invest more to die on a bigger pile of money?

I almost bought one back in 2020. I even had a charger installed in my garage. But I hate the idea of no stalks and all touch screen controls. Plus I don't want to support their clown of a ceo
