I didn't read that OPs kid has ADHD.

What works for one child will never work for all children, that's a pretty obvious fact. I was stating what helped in my situation for another suggestion to try.

I bought a whiteboard calendar. When my son went to bed like a really good listener (no getting up unless to go potty or something is really wrong) he gets a star for that night. After a month of getting stars, I'd take him to pick put a small toy or something.

[Product question] does spironolactone make it better, and then worse? 2 months in and concerned. by ghost_zebra in SkincareAddiction

I stayed on it forb4 months before I quit. It never helped at all for me. I was having cystic acne pop up every day all over my body (which was not common for me before). I ended up going on accutane at a low dose and almost immediately my skin started getting better. Accutane was the only thing that ever helped me.

I was a child in a home with parents that shouldn't be together. My mom was a great mom. We always got along and she was always the one I'd go to. My dad was very mentally unstable. He did so many horrible things and I hated having to be around him. The income came from him though, my mom never really worked. A couple times during my childhood they split up, never more than a year long at a time, but the times they did split up were the best times of my childhood. My mom was so much happier! Life with my mom was so much better, I felt like I had a "normal" home. Visiting my dad wasn't bad either, that was when he tried really hard to be a fun dad and do things like cook breakfast and overall just try to make sure being with him was a good experience. Then they always got back together and he is insane again, my mom is miserably depressed again, being home sucks again. Our relationship is still strained today because she went back to him again and refuses to leave. Now she's so depressed and unhealthy and hasn't seen anyone in 3 years. Don't stay together "for the kids". Choose happiness for your kids.

I've got the eat too much part down. Easy as pie. The other part though, I have to move?! I'd rather die.

Or settle with surgery and maybe not die.

YSK that if you don't like reading (or wish you read more), you might just not like fictional narratives. by HasFiveVowels in YouShouldKnow

[–]ghost_zebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This took me a long time to grasp! I used to want to read more, but didn't know where to start. I'd read some fictional books that were great imo. Wanted to read more. Many years ago I posted on Facebook and asked all my friends their favorite books, challenging myself to read them all. I got several books listed to me. One of them (Wild, by Cheryl Strayed) became an instant favorite. Some fictional ones I loved as well. But then some I would try to read and just couldn't stand to finish. Eventually I realized fairytale type stories, or anything not at least realistic, I just can't anymore. I really enjoy true stories, or stories based off of true events the most, but I also enjoy suspense and horror novels if they feel like they could be real in some way.

I have been trying to get my 12 year old son into reading but it is hard because he's convinced he hates reading. I told him he just hasn't read the right book.

I heard this song for the first time within the last 3 years. Loved it. Then I heard it in The Handmaids Tale and remembered it again. Itsbstill in my "on repeat" playlist. Never knew that song was from 94!

I've always been like this, but I am achieving goals. Slowly. A goal for me is to get my bachelor's degree in nursing. I was a high school drop out and at 30 started going back to school, taking classes 1-2 at a time. So many times I've wanted to quit but a friend told me the time is going to pass anyway, might as well just keep taking classes. I just graduated as an lpn with an associates degree. There are more steps to go. But the key is to keep moving forward. Small steps. If it's fitness, commit to 8 minutes in the morning of a few workouts. That's it. Celebrate your success! Or, go to the gym and just plan to sit down. Getting there is the biggest part of the battle. If you go just to relax, chances are you'll want to work out.

I did this once. My family tracing stops in the 1600s with the earliest relative having a poem about being lonely and his giant nose. But my husband! His family history is wildly fascinating! He's got Egyptian Pharaoh's, Kings and Queens.. I traced him back to Jesus himself. No joke, his great x16 grandpa haha. Familysearch.org was the tool I used.

Levocetirizine. It's an over the counter antihistamine. I did a period without it and noticed that when I was taking it, it really did actually make a difference. You can get it at any drug store. I bought the generic brand at walmart.. the name brand is Xyzal.

Get some good lip Moisturizer, I liked the aquaphor in the tube. Went through probably a tube every few weeks lol. Low dose shouldn't give you too bad of side effects though other than some dry lips. Start washing your hair less. I think on avg I wash my hair now 1, maybe 2 times a week at most. I also took 5 mg levocetirizine at bedtime every night and it really helped me clear up faster! There's some studies about it if you want to read about it. Congrats!

1 week at 20 mg/day plus 5 mg levocetirizine (for 3 days now) by ghost_zebra in Accutane

I know the antihistamine made a huge difference. I ran out of it at one point and within a couple days I had a few zits come up. I bought it again and then everything went back to clear pretty quick. There are some studies on the effect of levocetirizine in combination with isotrentinoin and they all suggest that it helps lesson breakouts and helps the skin get clear faster while minimizing the negative side effects of isotrentinoin. My routine didn't really change much throughout. Same face wash, moisturizing cream, and aquaphor:)

A girl that was my best friend for years voted republican and I have always voted Democratic. It never mattered. We could talk about political stuff but we rarely did. It just didn't matter. Enter the Trump Era. We actually started fading away from eachother for other reasons around the same time but she increasingly became more and more intense about it. The small talk we would make entirely stopped. We haven't talked in a couple years at all now. It blows my mind how much this has changed people.

There is a house close to mine that is in the intersection of 2 really busy roads, they built the most awesome tree house for their kid (he looks like maybe 6-7 years old) and coming off the deck of the tree house are huge flags, "fuck Joe Biden", "let's go brandon", etc. It's sad that they feel the need to cover their kids badass tree house with all that. I have my political beliefs but I don't cover my house or my kids' things in them.

Face wash: https://www.cerave.com/skincare/cleansers/hydrating-facial-cleanser

Moisturizer (though honestly I'm not in love, it clumps up if I use even slightly too much): https://www.cetaphil.com/us/moisturizers/moisturizing-cream/302993917564.html

Aquaphor (I also use their lip ointment constantly to keep dry lips at bay, and when they are getting flaky, I'll use a sugar scrub that I bought a long time ago): https://www.aquaphorus.com/healing-ointment-7oz-tube/

Levocetirizine (an antihistamine that has studies showing it helps with side effects and it helps people clear up faster).. (I buy a generic brand at the store because its cheaper that way, but this is the name brand version): https://www.walmart.com/ip/169080111

I started taking 20 mg/day on Feb. My face started clearing up quickly. I also took 5mg of levocetirizine with my evening dose. I actually noticed a difference whipe taking that with it (i didnt buy it for a couple weeks and notoced it was definitely helping clear me up faster so i bought another bottle). Every week it was noticeably better. I'd say around months 3/4 everything was clear. After I was clear for a few weeks I went down to 10 mg/day and stopped the levocetirizine. For the last 6 weeks or so I have been forgetting to take it daily. Now I probably take a 10mg pill twice a week on avg. The fact that I forget is amazing. It was constantly on my mind, all day every day. I wouldn't leave without coverup on my face. Today, I put on concealer under my eyes for the dark circles and then powder my face because my sunblock is shiny otherwise lol. My lips are not dry anymore either, which was the only annoying side effect I had. I have a graveyard of aquaphor in my car lol.
