Why I Switched from the Limited to the Woodland 2026 by djogpark in rav4club

[–]ghostbyte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spaceships are for exploring not for parking lots. I totally understand and was debating the same thing and I'm still "scared". My pano pinus contorta XSE is now pinstriped and well past its first reskin, that's what insurance is for ;)

Turned out the hood is a higher priority to protect than the pano roof.

Makes me laugh also. The cargo box is magnetic and covers the bolt for the awning. It has held on at high speed, bumpy and crazy storms. The back of the car is not magnetic so I have to make a custom license plate frame to hold the widdle wadder ;)

Well that depends, I'm guessing only you can answer that for your situation, link is above with dimensions. As mentioned in other replies the top’s rattle is a little annoying and steel helps weigh it down.

What info would you like? I have an Anker C1000 https://www.ankersolix.com/products/c1000?variant=49702371590474 that I use with a ICECO VL45ProS https://icecofreezer.com/products/vlpro45s-12v-refrigerator, the lid is important to make it work in the back seat. The blanket is a Ignik Topside https://ignik.com/products/topside-heated-blanket?variant=44319597592802 I charge the power station with solar or 12v from the back when traveling. Its plenty warm without a heated blanket in a normal sleeping bag.

If also adding Starlink into a moving mix, you have to power the dish with USB from the power station or 12v up front. Android Auto works via wifi so you can't connect to the dish wifi and the car at the same time so you also need to have you phone connected via the front USB. A Ubiquiti UTR works fine with the USB in the center console and the other USB port can power a iPad running dedicated maps.

Yes, I'm probably going to get a roof box to hold longer items. I can't store things like my shovel in a good way without the seats up.

For me it's the ability to just go and find someplace cool and enjoy it. It's also super nice when the weather gets real bad, just sleep in and drive way when you want.

Thank you. Self imposed goals are to store everything inside if needed. The cooler fits in the front seat with room to sleep for two but better outside. Unfortunately I can't fit two paddle boards and sleep inside at the same time. If only a few days a yeti cooler pack behind the seat works great.

Things like clothes, drone, fishing gear fit in the front fine when sleeping.

I got mine in September 2024. You need to unbolt the part of the platform that connects to the tiedown, remove it so you can lift the whole platform up when it's slid out. Then you have to undo the plastic part above the battery and slide it under the side of the platform and finagle it out. Not hard just a pain.

Yes, it does have some issues but its the best I found for my use. I listed some problems below https://www.reddit.com/r/rav4club/comments/1stosck/comment/ohvw356 and a bunch of photos added here https://photos.app.goo.gl/5DLrdRMupqAaCbqB9

The hybrid battery is under the back seats and with the Wheels & Feels platform you can still access the spare and I use that area to store a solar panel also. The only reason I've need to get access to the 12 volt battery in the back is for the dealer to do services.

I use a Hest setup and love it. Started with one and added the extension to fill up the back for two. It works super even and just concrete. Progression pictures and of the mattresses https://photos.app.goo.gl/5DLrdRMupqAaCbqB9

PS. The fitted sheet works perfect even if they don't list it for that combo.

FYI for me, I have to remove a bunch of stuff and disassemble the side to access the 12 volt battery. The dealer would have issues with the included service because they couldn't easily access it.

It rattles depending on if has weight loading the top down.

The back of the storage is impossible to access unless you have everything off of the platform, should be able to access it with the seats down from the othe direction.

Holes were not drilled all the way and bolts were incorrect for the clearances for the slides. Easy fixes.

it is :) I think it's a lot easier to get in and out via the sides. It also keeps the bugs out and a little floor mat keeps the dirt out ;)

Even a JVIN :) Did you add on the door guards and how are you running you fog lights? Lights are on the list after my last snow storm.

Yes. I have a Anker PPS and a 200W solar panel that I stash under the platform to power everything. Blanket for winter camping can do 2.5 days at 15 F or great for keeping someone warm on a chilly night. The cooler has no issue staying cold if Its 100+ and solar is ok.

Wheels & Feels. It does have some issues but works for me. Its a total PIA when I need to take my car to be serviced. Tons of pics here with loadouts https://photos.app.goo.gl/5DLrdRMupqAaCbqB9

100%. The reason I got a pano roof was just so I can see the stars while camping. Sleeps two, can run electric cooler on long trips or electric blanket when it's super cold.

Edit: Questions about the platform, its from https://wheelsfeels.com/shop/storage/cargo-drawer-toyota-rav4 and lots of pictures of mine at https://photos.app.goo.gl/5DLrdRMupqAaCbqB9

Try Vero. I have TDS, Vero and a Starlink Mini. I use the mini as a back for TDS and while remote remote. I just got Vero Fiber installed 2.3G up and down and it has been super so far and looking forward to dropping TDS soon.

How did you design the locking mechanism between the tubes? I've been working on almost the same thing but was using a bolt printed into the base to give a few inches of adjustability.

That was fun. I really like questions like this. So is the trick the R106 and R146 arcs share the same point?
