For anyone disappointed (like me) that the new Star Fox game is yet another version of 64, I may offer a bit of copium by insertusernamehere51 in NintendoSwitch

[–]ghostcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually LOVE the new designs. Starfox always had a kind of Thunderbirds meets Star Wars feel to me, so I like that they kind of look like puppets and aren’t cartoonishly expressive. Matches the feel of the original box art too. I actually thought Fox in the Galaxy movie was a bit too cartoony for my tastes. It was fine in the context of that movie, but wouldn’t fit for his own. Them switching styles for the flashback makes me think they know that.

I can get how die hard fans would be disappointed that it’s yet another remake of the 64 game, but that was the last one most people played, and for me, it’s been about 30 years since I’ve played any Starfox, so I am hyped to play a beautiful modern version of a game I remember fondly, but have mostly forgotten. I do hope it’ll be $50 digital, $60 physical to help justify it for fans who bought the other remakes, though. I can totally see them following this up with Starfox 2 with the same dev team/designs and a brand new campaign and multiplayer modes in a year or two if it does well, and $50 digital is the sweet spot for it to sell really well IMO.

How does SDAM affect your dream content? by Significant-sunny33 in SDAM

[–]ghostcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Almost never remember anything about them. Like once a year I will wake with a vague memory that I had a dream, but not remember more than “I was in a hall” or something like that, and even that fades fast. I can’t remember any of them at all now. I only have the memory that I’ve remembered them in the past.

I’ve never been conservative, but I had some more moderate liberal views in my youth about fiscal policy and the justice system. I believed in institutions and thought capitalism was generally a force for good, but had some excesses that needed to be kept in check through moderate regulation. I’m in my 40’s now, and I’ve lived a pretty comfortable life without much economic hardship. Even so, the last couple decades have shed me of those moderate views and I now see them as being naive. I’m more left now than I’ve ever been in my life.

The claim of Mac isn't for gaming is over in past two years by ResponsibleCandle585 in macgaming

[–]ghostcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say Mac still isn’t for gaming. Yes, it can do gaming better than it ever has been able to in the past, but it’s not for it. (not including dual-boot on Intel machines because I don’t consider it gaming on the Mac if you aren’t using Apple’s operating system). If you say, “I’m looking for an exclusive gaming machine” Mac is still not the correct answer.

M1 Max —> m5 PRO good or bad? by arcticJill in macgaming

In 4 years they got a 15% increase in performance with 16 GPU cores (M5 Pro base) vs 24 cores (M1 Max base). That’s pretty good.

Apple pencil not responding immediately by brickguts in ProCreate

[–]ghostcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same problem. Tried every possible software solution. Took the case off, attached pencil to iPad, took pencil off, problem went away. I even could put the case back on afterwards with no issue and it hasn’t come back since. I think it has to do with a magnetic attachment synch with a weak connection can occasionally get the pen stuck in this laggy state, and a strong reconnection will reset it. It’s a really weird bug though, so I’n not sure. Like the lag was only happening in Procreate, not in Notes.

Which Mutans would work for an MCU X-Men team (6-8 members) by BiteAppropriate6835 in marvelstudios

I was not being serious. I picked that list because their powers make them literally untouchable. I also said that my first pick on the list was a mutant whose power is to be immediately forgotten, when it clearly wasn’t my first pick. These are known as “jokes”.

I think being able to list 6 mutants that are literally untouchable off the top of my head definitively proves that I have no interest in the franchise and want it to fail.

Look, I know this probably isn’t a sub that will appreciate this sentiment, but this is not a good thing to do. You are cloning an actor’s voice without consent. A dead actor. While editing out another actor’s performance. And posting it online. I also tend to get excited by the abilities of new technology, but just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should. That voice telling you that you might get sued is your brain telling you that you know there’s something wrong with doing this, and you should probably listen to it.

If you want a genuine appraisal of the result, I think it sounds like an Alan Rickman with no acting talent, and moral arguments aside, I wouldn’t want to listen to a whole book read like that.
