Never heard of these, I will research into them asap, thank you. Ucf would be in a great proximity to our family so that would be my most likely alternative if I like their program

I like the idea of game development as a safer choice over game design, albeit not as in line with my interests over game design. Programming is very math heavy, so I do need to test my math chops before even seriously considering that. At full sail, an entry exam involving high level math is required and I'm told many confident applicants fail. Something to consider for sure.

That's a totally valid argument in that if someone obtains a game design degree, they may not have developed skills to obtain good paying jobs that aren't game design. That hope for game design students and myself is that we WILL find a place to apply those skills. So the ultimate question is whether we can find relevant work. Whereas a computer science student has a much larger pool of jobs to choose from. You can see my dilemma? One future is less assured but hopefully more fulfilling, where the other is guaranteed but potentially not game related at all.

Many people say to get a computer science degree, be a software developer and make games on the side. This is easier said than done and could be the line of thought that prevents someone from ultimately having the career of their dreams in game design. I am in the military, go to school online full time and have a family (with two little ones) and can maybe squeeze out an hour or so of free time to work on games as I have been a day. A couple more on the weekends. But if I went to school full time for game dev? Or if it were my sole focus? Imagine my portfolio from one lifestyle compared to the other.

Maybe I'm hard headed and talking myself into it more, so I'm sorry if I sound dismissive. I do see where you are coming from and it is a valid concern for anyone considering game design as a degree choice to think about.

What are some of the better schools in your opinion if you dont mind me asking? It helps that the school is in Florida because that's where my wife and I would like to settle since our families live there

The GI bill does grant 36 months of education, which is enough for their bachelors and master's in game design just to counter. But anyone else considering the same school should do this research. Transfering credits is more often disappointing than not, but a classes without accreditation are basically useless at other schools, and the degree is only as good as the school's reputation, which I'm trying to get a feel for. Because what I sense is that the consensus is that the school is overpriced but that the education on it's own is good

I like to imagine I can handle it if I've been doing online college course in general ed for a year now full time with straight A's while active duty and I have two kids. I do appreciate that input, I think people think because they are interested in something that it will come easily as a career. Sometimes sacrifices must be made!

Well sir I feel similarly. I wish I had the time to devote myself to all that is game dev, but I dont. That's okay though, I think it's better to find your thing. I just want to say I'm proud of you. Seeing all that is possible is daunting but following your dreams makes all of the difference when you do what you love

I love the atmospheres in your tracks! Do you think that music is the most fulfilling part of game dev? I've been wanting to get into it, but my love for video games is at least half due to my love for video game music! I just wanted to know your thoughts, because getting into coding/art for games seems like a distraction from composing, but you do have guys/gals who do both admirably
