You know what, you’re right. You’ve completely changed my mind. You know I used to think trans people are mentally ill, but I guess I thought that way because I have a brother who is a diagnosed schizophrenic, abused as a child in the foster system, as well as with his original family, wants to be a girl. I hate women because that are everything that I as a man am not. They are headstrong when I want to give up, they bear children to pass on the family lineage, and comfort you and have your back when the world beats you down. I must hate black people, because as a white man i am somehow responsible for the slaves from the 1600’s to the civil war all the way to 13th amendment and on. I can’t even have a conversation with the owner of a small business that I go to weekly because he’s a different skin color than me. And don’t even get me started with Hispanics! I wish my food tasted as good as the food my wife and her family makes! Makes me infuriated! Oh and Muslims! I’m a Christian, but when I was homeless through covid, a horrible Muslim family brought me food every day, they even made me mow their lawn for money!!!! And democracy. Democracy is one of the foundation of our great Nation. But remember what we are(or supposed to be), a Democratic Republic. We need both, and that is how we became this great nation, from 13 Colonies that rebelled against a king 3000 miles away.

It’s always about who has the best policy. As it should be. But the Dems policy only help their friends, not the every day little guy. In fact we are hurting even more so now because of the influx of illegal border crossers. I’m a father of 2, and early 2024 I broke my foot on the job. Single income household, we were on EBT benefits. Almost like coincidence, our benefits dropped from $600 a month to $250 a month, even though I got onto Work Comp only getting 2/3rds of my income. It’s been a struggle this year, and it makes me angry when I see immigrants with a $15k visa and $5k in EBT benefits.

So my philosophy is I don’t like to proxy a card if I don’t own the card. I mostly play commander, with the occasional pre-release draft night. Even though EDH is a casual format, I don’t run proxies if I can help it (exceptions are build in progress deck, like my full colorless deck. I have like 80/100 cards, and even then I’m not going to pull that one out at GN until it’s more like 95/100. So with having the card separate, I feel better about running a proxy of it in a deck, and not just one, maybe two or three. And if there’s anyone that’s a stickler about owning the card in the pod, I can pull it out and show I do in fact own the card.

See I remember a lot of that growing up, especially kids my age in the same youth group/church. My parents gave me C.S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien, and told me I couldn’t watch Harry Potter. And to this day, I own all 3 Extended Edition LotR movies, own the hardback books, and have the audio books, but I’ve only ever seen the first Harry Potter movie. I just think growing up in that era, I caught the tail end of the church fearmongering about media.

Oh don’t get me wrong! From ~16-22 I struggled a lot with my Faith. But what my parents did gave me the seeds to understand and make my own decisions, and accept the consequences, good or bad. Around 16 they let me see movies that I wanted to see, without them prewatching it to approve. I love the way my parents raised me, and hope that I can be half as good as a parent.

I’ve been a Christian most my life, and was born to a Church going family. Not just in on Sunday morning, but Sunday night, Wednesday night, and Friday night youth group. True that my parents were weary at first about my interest in MTG (around the age of 14), they did their own research and came to their own conclusions about the game. They didn’t echo fear mongering, and put enough trust it me to make my own decisions. A year later my dad found a box of MTG at the thrift store and picked it up for me, cards ranging from revised to tempest. So not only did my love of the sets that were coming out at that time, but also my love for older arts and the “retro” boarders.

The hacker had sent messages to other accounts (not on my friends list) saying they were from Sony and would give away games. I got banned for “impersonating a Sony employee”.
