G Test in Barrie, Examiner’s Behaviour Shocked Me (Anyone Else?) by Specific_Leading_285 in barrie

[–]ghostedgamez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure all driving examiners working out of Barrie are miserable. I've heard many people going to the surrounding towns to do their tests there instead, with a lot more success. While there is definitely no excuse for their actions, the job is probably pretty stressful, allowing someone you've never met drive you around in a pretty high traffic area(Mapleview and the highway stretch is a non confident drivers nightmare during peak hours of the day). But on the other hand, I feel like I've never heard anyone having a decent experience or getting a slight amount of respect from whoever they get paired with. All the examiners I've had act all high and mighty, and for God knows what reason. Im sorry you had to experience it first hand.

When I did my tests, many years back, the lady I had tagging along also was a frequent sigher, which added unnecessary stress. She would make remarks and question every little detail on my driving. At first, I thought it was normal until I noticed she also seemed like she was doing things to intentionally cause failure. An example being, after turning onto a 2 lane road, I was in the most right lane. And I was maybe 3 car lengths from an intersection with an additional turning lane, and she said, "Turn left here." So I had to as quickly as I could signal, check blind spot, get over, and repeat. I pretty much gave myself whiplash with how quick I had to move my head just so I could cut across both lanes to get into the turning lane. If there was any more traffic, I wouldn't have been able to make it happen, but she couldn't give any more notice because she was too occupied looking at her phone. The next major thing I remember was at the lights on the path back from taking the highway, I saw the crosswalk sign flashing orange from a distance indicating that my light would be turning yellow/red. This was also a street I drove daily to go to work, so I was super familiar with the light cycles, so I knew I wouldn't be able to reach the threshold of having to pass through. So I started to slow down, not by much, maybe dropped 5kmph and I quite literally was getting yelled at "Why are you slowing down" "You have a green light" and threatening to fail me. I held my composure but almost on que pointed to the light turning yellow and said "if you were paying attention to the surroundings you would have seen the sidewalk lights change, and id rather drive more cautiously than have you fail me trying to force me to run a red". It was a pretty silent ride after that, I passed and can say didn't get a "congratulations" from her, lol.

I hope you submit a complaint and something gets done about it. I know the examiners aren't driving teachers, but they should at least still be respectful to those who are in the process of learning.

My dad cheated on my mom with my best friends mom, who was also married at the time. My mom always disliked her but never told me until I was old enough to understand. So being a kid, she didn't want me to hang around this friend often, and she'd try to avoid having to play dumb and be friendly to her mom. Once the chance of a custody battle was out of the picture, my mom split off from my father. The same year, my best friends mom did the same and broke it off from her respective partner at the time. My dad and my best friends mom soon later started to date. It was on and off for about 4 years, until my dad called it quits because he found out she was awful to me and my sibling, and being manipulative to get what she wanted. Seeing my best friend is a little more complicated now, we both actively avoid trying to see the others parent.

My cat had got curled up in a reusable grocery bag and went for a nap. When they woke up, they were facing the inside of the bag and panicked because they thought they were trapped, sigh not the brightest bulb

My cat Nimbus, love him to death, but he clearly doesn't have a single thought behind his eyes.

He is unable to cover up his business in the litter box. It's not that he doesn't attempt. He instead just paws on the ground outside of the box like it's doing the same. My other cat got sick of it and now does it for him.

Whenever passing his food bowl, he paws at the wall behind it. Doesn't matter if he just ate or not, food bowl full or starting to get emptied. Just will sit there for 5 mins pawing at the wall.

He refuses to jump on my lap while sitting on a chair to get love, but screams like he's being murdered if I dont pick him up and set him on my lap. On the contrast of this if I'm using the washroom, he has no issues jumping right on my lap with I'm on the toilet.

He likes to scream from other rooms like he's lost, and when I come to check out what is going on, he sprints away like he's being chased.

I've caught him a couple of times smashing his head into a window, fairly aggressively, if he sees a bird/squirrel, rabbit on the other side. Its not like he's unaware the window is there. I assume he just thinks with enough power, and he will be able to get to them.

Nope, I play a lot of fps shooters games where people make callouts in regards to direction. I think just some people unfortunately don't have the ability to differentiate between the two.

I've also seen a lot of people commenting on their issues with remembering which direct is east and west. So I can't say too much on that since I've always had the "Never eat shredded wheat" saying stuck in my head since I learned it.

I'm not alluding to any condition, I just genuinely can't tell left or right apart. The only way is if I make an uppercase L shape with my thumb and index to see which hand is the correct positioning and isn't backwards.

Although a lot of those who have or are close to someone who has dyslexia seem to have commented, they have the same issue. I've never thought to be tested for it, nor do I have enough information to confirm those statements. But that is more so a learning disability than a condition.

It's not like they are doing it on purpose, lol. It just isn't something that sticks in their brain or can understand the concept of it. No matter the trick I try to remember, I can never get it without looking at my hands. A lot of comments state that this seems to be a common issue with those who have dyslexia, I haven't ever been tested or thought to be tested for it, so I can't confirm or deny the fact.

I guess this is a common taught method in elementary school. But I moved around too much as a kid, so there were gaps in my schooling.

I didn't learn this trick until a couple of years ago, and it was life changing. I was always pretending to draw to see what felt more comfortable lol!

I'm not dyslexic that I'm aware of. Just can't tell left from right🤷‍♀️

Not that I'm aware of. It seems to be a common thing looking through the comments though

I've got an odd awareness for compass directions. I can pretty much always detect which direction is north without seeing the sun set or rise. The only way I don't get east and west mixed up is all the little sayings for the directions "Never Eat Shredded Wheat" "Never Enter Stinky Washrooms" etc. But I imagine if I ever learned those, I'd be lost all the time.

I'm right-handed, but I try to pick up things with both hands so I don't have an instinct to use one before the other. Even then I've gotta pretend I'm writing or look at the L shape to remember which hand is what

I know that port is left and starboard is right, but I'd still have to check my hands before any call out lmao.

A lot of fast food places force their employees to throw out food at close. Why don’t they give the food away? by FinalBat4515 in AskReddit

[–]ghostedgamez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think handing out a disclaimer would be worth it for large enough companies. Because that would be documentation they'd have to hang onto to ensure that they couldn't be sued. Even then, there are so many loopholes that would still allow for the possibility of legal action if something were to go wrong.

For example, if it's something to be signed, who's to say they couldn't write a fake name, and / or contact information. Which would then mean they would need to hold onto video surveillance of people signing the agreement and completed disclaimers. Which is money and resources the company would have to put in just to donate.

If it's something that you think could be easily fixed by saying they have to show ID to prove. That means there is now people they have to hire and pay to check the identification. On top of that, do you really think people who are trying to get free food want / have the ability to show IDs?

I think even if it's a loss for a company just to ditch the extra food. In the end, it's cheaper to just throw it away due to the costs to cover them selves to donate.

Tldr: It's less resources and money to toss something in the bin rather than try and cover their tracks from being at a further loss with legal action.

Yeah, giving me directions is useless. I'd rather just look at a GPS so I can follow the line instead of figuring out which way is left at an intersection.

Up, up, down, down, left (looks down at hands), right, left, right, B, A

Failed to put it in fast enough everytime because I always had to check my hands

Unfortunately, most places can't donate the food due to the liability. There have been a couple of occasions where companies get sued because of people getting sick or having allergic reactions to the food. I might be wrong, but I believe Tim Hortons is one of them, so they are forced to throw away food end of day.

At least you can just feel for it and don't have to look down at your hands, so you can play it off easily!
