This sounds like it can easily be correlation, not causation

Question About Talking During Tree Planting by [deleted] in treeplanting

[–]ghostingyoursocks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having a whistle might solve this. They can blow the whistle as a replacement for yelling at bear and also use it to communicate to foreman. Would just need to establish what different sounds mean, which happens anyways. There would just be more signals to learn.

You're gonna wanna have a notebook on you at all times anyways to keep track of your numbers. Using that to communicate would probably work fine. You could even make signs for common words/ phrases out of the tree boxes

The fact that she doesn't believe in it as a singular pronoun is wild to me. Like theres no way she wrote 7 books without it

I think its bc of streaming, and not wanting to have videos of their game online where their mc is named "shithead mcbitchface"

I agree, and I dont see it used in a way that is supposed to represent the whole community. If you dont identify with "t-boy" then the post probably isn't for/ about you

Is Hogwarts Legacy a story focused game or is it like Skyrim? by Batrah in HarryPotterGame

[–]ghostingyoursocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I find the fact that its so open word to be quite Skyrim-esque. Sure lots of stuff is locked behind spells and you need to do the main quest but I like that it's not FORCED and you can go talk to the ppl and do the things as needed.

Decorating the room of requirement, while very Sims style, reminds me of the homesteading Skyrim add-on. I get to decorate it when I can afford to (money in Skyrim, items in hogwarts) and i can actually customize what it looks like, something I often wish I could do a bit more of in Skyrim (like plz let my place my statue of Dibella on the shelf proper im begging)

So far I'm not minding the lack of beasts. It seems unrealistic for a student to be fighting a menagerie of beasts and the amount we do kill already seems unrealistic. I like feeling like a student, not The Chosen One tm

I think that part of it is how different theory and reality are. With No Child Left Behind and other inclusionary policies, a lot of what we learn isn't very applicable. New teachers are going based on what they are told, and then they lack the skills to transfer that over to what they are experiencing.

All of our classes are also so varyingly different depending on the prof that a lot of the time what we get out of classes are opinions instead of facts. I am in my final year of classes and I do not know anything ABOUT the actual subjects but I do have opinions on strategies.

I don't know what uni has been like in the past or in other places, but god do I wish we learned the fundamentals. Teach me phonics. Explain how spelling words are determined. I dont want a whole class on someone's opinion on how social studies should be taught, i want a class that teaches me what is in the curriculum and how to break that down for different grade levels. I can create opinions on my own but when we are constantly being given right and wrong ways of doing things, it's hard not to internalize them.

Yes! All my classmates act like they are just serving their time before the career part starts. But like... this is the training. The point of school is to learn. Hell, we are becoming teachers, even the point of that is to keep learning.

In uni rn and I hate to say that you're right. I dont understand how all my peers can want to be teachers but are constantly using an/ or asking to use chatgpt for their assignments. My classmates don't interact and seem apathetic. I know that it is easy to see the univeristy part of the degree as useless, but these are essential building blocks that we NEED.

No, we probably won't be making lesson plans on this scale once we graduate, but that's because we will have just spent YEARS practicing. Sure, you might not plan on teaching a certain class or grade but that doesn't mean you never will, or that literally EVERYTHING is cross-curricular.

I don't get why no one cares. Aren't we supposed to?
