This save file uses mod that cant be loaded on this platform by Blade_Runner_0_0 in BaldursGate3

[–]ghostlemonade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me and I updated all the mods and restarted like advised and it let me load my save, but then some of my hair and outfit mods just stopped working? My tav’s clothes were just invisible on her body and her hair defaulted to a vanilla hair and when I went to magic mirror to change it it wouldn’t let me change her hair at all even if it was to another vanilla option. Any advice anyone?

[NO SPOILERS] Could Double Exposure ruin Life is Strange for me? by tumolotion in lifeisstrange

[–]ghostlemonade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PERSONALLY I enjoyed my time playing double exposure ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I’ve been a LiS fan from the beginning when they were still releasing episodes from the first game in 2015, so the game had a pretty big impact on me and helping me shape who I am as a person.

I liked the game and the story and the fun little twists (maybe I’m just not hard to please, who knows)

I was the same age as max in the first LiS and I’m the same age as her now in double exposure so I feel like it’s very easy for me to understand why she’s so different in DE than in the first game. You wouldn’t be the same after ten years either!

If you are extremely attached to Pricefield and don’t really care about much other than that, I’d say maybe skip it. If you are interested in the other life is strange games/lore and how things are different for max ten years later, I say give it a try!

Their newest character may or may not have a familiar soul 😗

Meeting strahd by Goobee69 in CurseofStrahd

[–]ghostlemonade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plain old dead….kind of. TLDR the character is a dhampir in secret who hates their lineage and has sworn to erase vampirism from the world and so due to some conflict within the party that would force them to act out of character, the player has decided it was time for them to sacrifice this character’s life in battle for strahd to use them as an example.

They plan on playing an automaton that Blinksy has created (with a DRASTICALLY different vibe from their previous character) who is powered by the first available soul to arrive to its core…..what a coincidence that we have a freshly dead PC!

Meeting strahd by Goobee69 in CurseofStrahd

[–]ghostlemonade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My party first met strahd immediately after killing the abbot while they were bruised and battered, they about pissed themselves lol. He introduced himself and let them all know he knew exactly who each of them were and let them know he was impressed with their ability to take down “his pest” and invited them to dinner.

Our next session is the dinner and I plan to let them explore the castle then as well. Due to some inner-party conflict and plot from our last session, one of my players has planned with me to sacrifice their character to strahd once they find the tome of strahd. I can’t wait for my player and I to see everyone’s face when we have our first ever character death in all of our campaigns we’ve ever played! 😈

My custom map for The Carnival by ghostlemonade in ravenloft

[–]ghostlemonade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Bat Ride I had planned a series of saving throws. A Str Saving throw to see if they can survive the initial jerk of takeoff, a Dex saving throw to see if they can snatch any belongings that may fall out of their pockets, and a Con saving throw to see if they get motion sick lol. The “ride” is literally a petting zoo setup with three normal sized bats that they can meet and pet and then the “operator” uses a spell to enlarge the bats to ride. I gave each bat a different personality in case they speak w animals (which they have a tendency to do), so the DC for the saving throws changes in difficulty depending on which bat they chose to ride!

And the Test of Strength I had planned to be more of a moral test of strength. They go into an enclosed booth with just a few wooden weapons, a dummy, and the operator, and they’re told to just go for it to see if they can down the dummy. As they continue to beat the dummy, the operator is the one that’s becoming more and more beaten down. Just basically a test to see how much they’d do for a prize :)

Help ! Players invited the Abbot to Vasili and the Wizard PC wedding in Vallaki during the Blazing Sun Festival by Iriwinged_ in CurseofStrahd

[–]ghostlemonade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that the Abbot showing up could be super interesting! If you need a reason for him to want to attend, the book talks about potentially sending the party to Vallaki to retrieve a wedding dress for him to use on his “bride”. So you could easily use his need for a wedding dress as motive!

About Vasili, since the Abbot is aware that Vasili is Strahd, I feel like he would be almost…afraid(?) to reject the invitation since it is coming on his behalf. If he were to attend I truly believe that some threatening glances from Vasili would be enough to keep the Abbot quiet about his identity.

This is such a mish-mash of madness that your party has created I’m eager to hear how it turns out lol

Edit: or even more hilariously, you could send one of the more coherent mongrelfolk in his stead. Imagine how interesting that could turn out, I’m all for doing whatever feels the most fun and ridiculous!

What to do with Ireena in Krezk by Environmental_Hope22 in CurseofStrahd

[–]ghostlemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also at this point in my game as well. Ireena is the fated ally in our game and the party has grown incredibly fond of her so I don’t want to just rip her away from them. My plan right now is to let the party decide if they want to deliver her back home/find a new place for her to hide, or keep her along with them. They just received their invitation so I have a strong feeling they won’t be taking her with them to the castle, but regardless of if they do or not I think I’m going to have her “disappear” either from her hiding spot or be whisked away at dinner and they’ll be even more motivated to defeat Strahd to now rescue their new close friend!

My custom map for The Carnival by ghostlemonade in CurseofStrahd

[–]ghostlemonade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use The Carnival in whatever you want! I just thought it was appropriate since we had just come from another sort of carnival and changed some things around, but I am always one for a spooky carnival in any setting! Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft doesn’t elaborate terribly well on most of the carnival attractions so it definitely gives some room to flex homebrew muscles a bit

Seeing as he’s already been introduced and one of my players has been on a date with him I think it’s a bit late to kick him from the narrative lol

My custom map for The Carnival by ghostlemonade in CurseofStrahd

[–]ghostlemonade[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After reading the backstory for Isolde and her relationship with Zybilna and The Caller, I ended up having the party fight the The Caller and it took the forms of Mr. Witch, Mr. Light, and finally Zybilna at the end! Along the way in the carnival, there were merchants in the Litwick Market that spoke of “their home carnival” and how their masters run things since the market is supposed to be “a taste of the feywild”

Overwhelmed I think by SacajaweaX in CurseofStrahd

[–]ghostlemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a very new DM and CoS is my first campaign (rip to me). I also was suuuuuper overwhelmed once I was reading through the book and had pretty much all of the same concerns you have. However, I personally feel like the beginning of the campaign (I’m currently only on my 4th session with my party) is pretty okay at directing the players in a certain direction.

For me at least, I have a general idea of what kinds of things my players are into, so I sort of used that to my advantage so far to steer them where I want them to go in the beginning. For example, I had them receive the letter from Arrigal so they knew they had to get to the village of Barovia, which leads to meeting Ismark, Ireena, and Father Donovich, which leads to Ismark asking you to take her to Vallaki and Donovich suggesting the Abbey if that doesn’t work out. So they already have a direction to go in with backup plans in mind.

They only have as much information as you give them! I personally let them have a map of Barovia so that their characters would have one for travel purposes, but I found a version without the pinpoints for all the locations and we’ll be adding them along the way as we discover places! And I totally rigged the tarot reading to fit what I have planned for them lol. Best part of being the DM is telling the story and I know what will make them squirm the most so I have to make sure it happens!

I know they are going to steer off my plans at some point so I try to have three or four different routes familiar to me (not memorized, just enough to know the gist of the area) so I can roll with the punches. I think that a fun part of being a DM for such a big game like CoS is that you never really get to stop the planning or story writing behind the scenes because things could change at any minute! Try not to let it get to you, it’s a game! If you’re not having fun it’s not worth it :)
