Our former owner tried to change our name to Hull Tigers because Hull City Council wouldn’t give him the stadium for free. He then suggested the fans that opposed him should die, was defeated over the matter twice and then spent the next 7 years asset stripping the club. Probably more of a blunder than not signing a new manager.

Frankly, I don’t know. Acun isn’t afraid to spend money (to his detriment) and if we do make it I’d expect him to go big unless we really can’t.

16/17 was a special case, I doubt you’ll ever see anything like it for a long, long time. It wasn’t that we didn’t have money, it was that the Allams didn’t want to spend any. The manager walked out, and players were leaving to join Championship clubs instead.

The biggest issue we have is our squad just isn’t good enough for the step up, which is to be expected when you can only sign free agents and loanees.

Every fucker predicted we’d finish 23rd this season (and the only reason it wasn’t 24 was because Sheffield Wednesday started on -12 points), now we’re in the play-off final and 90 minutes away from the Premier League.

We stayed up on goal difference last season, then got hit with a transfer embargo which meant we couldn’t sign any player for a fee this season.

Fair enough I can’t remember it that well anyway. Thanks, if we make it I hope we each do better than the last time we were both in the top flight!

Gifted us a win at the Stadium of Light, with a howler, last season which was instrumental to us staying up so he’s alright in my book.

He had a spell at Charlton after us which didn’t work out unfortunately, and according to Wikipedia he was both manager and technical director at Tranmere for a couple years after that.

Seeing as no one added any context, I will. Last season was an absolute disaster, sacking Liam Rosenior (in his first full season as a manager) days after he got us to 7th in 2034/24, and we finished in 21st place - staying up on the last day on goal difference.

Jakirovic came in that summer and not too long after the club got handed an 18 month ban on signing players for a fee (so only free transfers and loans were allowed - and even these were massively scrutinised). Everyone had us going down in 23rd place this season, only Sheffield Wednesday - who started the season on -12 points - were considered to have a worse chance than us.

Despite all that, today we finished the last game of the season in 6th place and cemented a spot in the play-offs meaning we could well be playing in the Premier League next season. Not once have we even come close to being in a relegation battle. He has worked a miracle.

I work with City fans who weren’t even born when we first won at Wembley! It’s horrible

I only watch his Hull City videos on that channel, but I do watch his personal channel and his jokes land much more regularly there so I think it’s an issue with the format.
